Leroy Simmons
PERRYTON - Leroy Simmons, 66, died Monday, March 3, 2003.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Ochiltree
Cemetery with the Rev. L.K. Lawley officiating.
Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
Mr. Simmons worked for Prairie Well Service.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; three brothers,
Leland Simmons and Denver Simmons, both of Menard, and
Houston Simmons of Abilene; and a sister, Mildred Brooks
of Menard.

Bobby Loy Bartel
PERRYTON - Bobby Loy Bartel, 65, died Tuesday, March 4,
2003.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Full Gospel Church
with the Rev. Tim Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in
Mennonite Cemetery in Balko, Okla., by Boxwell Brothers
Funeral Home.
Survivors include a sister, Edna Presnall of Perryton;
and two brothers, Pete Bartel and Van Bartel, both of
Balko.

Johnie B. Presnall
PERRYTON - Johnie B. Presnall, 80, died Wednesday, March
5, 2003.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Full Gospel Church
with the Rev. Tim Ramsey and the Rev. Jeff Knighton
officiating. Burial will be in Gray Cemetery in Gray,
Okla., by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
Mr. Presnall was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign
Wars and Disabled American Veterans. He was a welder in
the oil field.
Survivors include his wife, Edna; a son, John Presnall of
Chetopa, Kan.; a daughter, Patricia Presnall of Austin; a
sister, Dorothy Stewart of Gray; two grandchildren; and
five great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Ochiltree Hospice,
3101 Garrett Drive, Perryton, TX 79070; or Perryton
Satellite Center, P.O. Box 203, Perryton, TX 79070.

Roberta Barnes
PERRYTON - Roberta Barnes, 87, died Monday, March 3,
2003.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Southside Baptist
Church with the Rev. Marlon Sparks officiating. Burial
will be in Ochiltree County Cemetery by Johnson's Good
Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker.
Mrs. Barnes was born March 2, 1916, in Panhandle. She
married E. Omar Barnes on April 9, 1938, in Sayre, Okla.
Survivors include two sons, Gilbert Barnes and Doug
Barnes, both of Perryton; a daughter, Gayle Biggs of
Sonoma, Calif.; a sister, Lucille Kretzmeier of Liberal,
Kan.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Gideons
International; or Hospice of Perryton.

Joy B. Chambers
PERRYTON - Joy B. Chambers, 64, died Wednesday, March 5,
2003.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Full Gospel
Church with the Rev. Tim Ramsey officiating, and Dr. Rick
Stewart performing the tribute. Burial will be in
Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
Mrs. Chambers moved to Perryton in 1964. She was a
secretary at Perryton Junior High School for 18 years.
Survivors include her husband, Dub; two daughters, Cindy
Todd of Austin and Lesa Drum of Perryton; two sons,
Darryl Chambers of Spearman and David Chambers of
Darrouzett; her mother, Violet Starke of Nocona; a
brother, Gaylord Brown of Fort Worth; a sister, Linda
Brown of Bowie; 17 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The family suggests memorials be to Perryton Junior High
Library, 510 S. Eton St., Perryton, TX 79070; or American
Heart Association, in care of Ochiltree General Hospital,
3101 Garrett Drive, Perryton, TX 79070.

H. Jake Lemaster
PERRYTON - H. Jake Lemaster, 91, died Friday, March 14,
2003.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First United
Methodist Church with the Rev. Greg Kennedy officiating.
Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers
Funeral Home.
Mr. Lemaster was a member of First United Methodist
Church of Perryton. He was a Mason and member of the
Wheatheart Shrine Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Fern Lemaster, in
2003; his parents, Tom and Jessie Lemaster; and a
brother, E.W. "Dub" Lemaster.
Survivors include three nieces, Phyllis Price of Balko,
Okla., Gaynell Hulsey of Perryton and Barbara Kaye Oberle
of Corinth; four nephews, Tom Lemaster of Albuquerque,
N.M., Ed Lemaster of Edinburg, Dan Witt of Seneca, N.M.,
and Clifford Guyger of Grand Junction, Colo.; several
great-nieces and nephews; several great-great-nieces and
nephews; a great-great-great-niece; and a
great-great-great-nephew.
The family suggests memorials be to Wheatheart Shrine
Club, P.O. Box 591, Perryton, TX 79070.

Max R. Dendy
PERRYTON - Max R. Dendy, 70, died Sunday, March 16, 2003,
in Amarillo.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Christian
Church with Dr. Jeff Knighton and the Rev. O.K. Bowen
officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by
Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
Mr. Dendy was a lifetime resident and farmer in the
Perryton area. He was a member of First Christian Church
of Perryton. He married his first wife, Christeen Mae
Records in 1950 at Clayton, N.M., and she passed away in
1973.
He then married Karyn Jean Wright in 1974 at Perryton. He
served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 and was stationed in
Bethesda, Md., San Diego and had a tour of Japan. He was
a charter member of Elks Lodge and VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Troy and
Treva Mary Dendy; his first wife and the mother of his
children in 1973; and a son-in-law, Sam Lilly.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Connie Lilly
of Perryton, and Mary Lou Batlan and Sally Brackett, both
of Austin; a son, Donnie Dendy of Perryton; a brother,
Fred Dendy and wife, Linda, of Perryton; a grandson,
Jason Lilly of Perryton; four granddaughters, Rayne Lilly
of Amarillo, and Rebecca Batlan, Katharine Batlan and
Ashley Brackett, all of Austin; and a great-grandson,
Tatum Lilly of Perryton.
The family suggests memorials be to Ochiltree Hospice,
3101 Garrett Drive, Perryton, TX 79070; or American
Cancer Society, 2405 Utica Lane, Perryton, TX 79070.

Moina May Caldwell
Ellis
PERRYTON - Moina May Caldwell Ellis, 93, died Monday,
March 24, 2003.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First United
Methodist Church with the Rev. Greg Kennedy officiating.
Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers
Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ellis was born Dec. 12, 1909, in Audrain County, Mo.
She had lived in the area since 1930, moving from
Indiana. She graduated from high school in Vandalia, Mo.
She went to the Universal Business Institute in Fort
Wayne, Ind.
In 1934 she was employed as a stenographer at First
National Bank. She was vice president of First National
Bank. She married Carl Ellis in January 1970, in
Perryton.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, a
charter member of Business and Professional Women's Club
and Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She was a volunteer for
years at Museum of the Plains and Ochiltree Historical
Commission. She was a member of Ochiltree County Senior
Citizens Association. She was past president of Museum of
the Plains.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1971.
Survivors include a sister, Elizabeth James of Medford,
Ore.; a nephew, Terry James of Medford; a niece, Judibeth
Vinson of Crescent City, Calif.; a great-niece, Denise
Steele of Garland; a great-nephew, Jon David Steele of
Garland; a cousin, Helene Thompson of Canyon; and her
special friends, Carl McQueary of Austin, and Hallie
Yates and Claudia Bolerjack, both of Perryton.
The family suggests memorials be to Museum of the Plains,
1200 N. Main St., Perryton, TX 79070; or Perry Memorial
Library, 22 S.E. Fifth Ave., Perryton, TX 79070.

Mary B. Briggs
PERRYTON - Mary B. Briggs, 70, died Sunday, March 23,
2003.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Natoma
City Cemetery in Natoma, Kan. Arrangements are by Boxwell
Brothers Funeral Home.
Mrs. Briggs was a loving wife, mother and Granny.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur A. and
Geanie Finch Matheson; and a son, Jerry Lee Briggs in
1973.
Survivors include her husband H.L.; a daughter, Sue Bryan
and husband, Jerry, of Perryton; a sister, Joy Miller of
Liberal, Kan.; a granddaughter, Jacey Irvin and husband,
Brad, of Perryton; and two great-granddaughters, Hannah
Irvin and Bailee Irvin, both of Perryton.
The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.

Jessie A. Moore
PERRYTON - Jessie A. Moore, 98, died Wednesday, March 26,
2003.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Edith
Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian with the Rev. Jimmy A.
Robinson, pastor of Abundant Life Assembly of God,
officiating. Arrangements are by Stickley-Hill Funeral
Directors of Canadian.
Mrs. Moore was born July 26, 1904.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John William
Moore Jr.; and a son, Robert Moore.
Survivors include a son, John Moore; a daughter, Mildred
Schroeder and husband, Ed; a sister, Mable Parker; eight
grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces
and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
