Junior Smith
PERRYTON - Junior Smith, 62, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003,
in Amarillo.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church
with the Rev. Richard Laverty officiating. Burial will be
in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith married Sue Barns on July 12, 1963. After her
death, he married Marolan Thurman on March 14, 1998, in
Perryton.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Danny Smith of Uvalde;
two daughters, Shae Lingo of Perryton and Kelly Brown of
Dallas; two stepdaughters, Cari Harp of Sunray and Sami
Reynolds of Chandler; a brother, Charles Smith of
Perryton; his stepfather, Andy Longcor of Perryton; and
nine grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Crown of Texas
Hospice, 1000 S. Jefferson St., Amarillo, TX 79101; or a
favorite charity.

Elmer D. Bechthold
PERRYTON - Elmer D. Bechthold, 72, died Friday, Nov. 28,
2003.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Fellowship
Baptist Church with the Rev. John Durham officiating.
Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers
Funeral Home.
Mr. Bechthold was born Feb. 28, 1931, in Lipscomb County
and was a lifetime resident. He graduated from Booker
High School in 1949. He graduated from West Texas College
with a bachelor of business administration degree in 1953
and a master's degreein business administration in 1954.
He married Earlene C. Rayn on Oct. 24, 1987, in Fort
Collins, S.C. He was a CPA and a member of Fellowship
Baptist Church of Perryton. He was a loving father and
kind, loving husband.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Christian H. and
Marie M. Kershman Bechthold; a son, James R. Bechthold;
and a sister, Doris E. Born.
Survivors include his wife of Fort Collins, S.C.; a son,
Jeff Bechthold of Perryton; two brothers, Ernest L.
Bechthold and Paul H. Bechthold, both of Booker; a
sister, Louise M. Brown of Boise City, Okla.; three
stepdaughters, Debra Givens of Wichita, Kan., Beverly
Lawrence of Fort Collins and Barbara Murrow of Eaton,
Colo.; a grandson, Jordan C. Bechthold of Perryton; and a
granddaughter, Jill A. Bechthold of Perryton.
The family suggests memorials be to Fellowship Baptist
Church, P.O. Box 1272, Perryton, TX 79070; or a favorite
charity.

Joe Max Schmidt
PERRYTON - Joe Max Schmidt, 69, died Sunday, Dec. 14,
2003.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist
Church with Richard Laverty officiating. Burial will be
in Independence Cemetery in Turpin, Okla., by Clark
Funeral Service of Beaver, Okla.
Mr. Schmidt was born May 25, 1934, in Okmulgee, Okla. He
married Bobbie J. Porter on Jan. 21, 1956, in Clayton,
N.M.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Steven Schmidt of
Justin; six daughters, Cindy Thomas of Laverne, Okla.,
Linda Kinsey of Beaver, Patricia Call of Norman, Okla.,
Susan Hall of Liberal, Kan., Lori Freese of Scott City,
Kan., and Juli Anderson of Yuma, Ariz.; his mother, Mary
Frances Schmidt of Dumas; a sister, Marilyn Turner of
Houston; and 14 grandchildren.

Curtis O'deal Williams
PERRYTON - Curtis O'deal Williams, 77, died Monday, Dec.
22, 2003.
Private family memorial services will be Friday, Jan. 9,
2004. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
Mr. Williams was born Nov. 23, 1926, in Neshoba, Miss.,
to Jarrett and Ola India Williams. He attended school in
Arlington, Miss. He served in the Army at Fort Hood. He
worked in the oil field, as a truck driver and on river
barges on the Mississippi River.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Martha; two daughters, Carol
Breedlove of Dusseldorf, Germany, and Pam Chesney of
Philadelphia, Miss.; a son, Curt Williams of Pamplona,
Spain; two stepsons, Kenneth Donahue of Perryton and Ross
Donahue of Spearman; a stepdaughter, Tammy Pugh of
Beaver, Okla.; two sisters, Myrtle Richardson and Mary
Fox, both of Philadelphia; five grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Beaver County Nursing
Home, P.O. Box 220, Beaver, OK 73932; Frank Phillips
College in Perryton, 9 S.W. Second St., Perryton, TX
79070; or a favorite charity.

Maxine Brown
PERRYTON - Maxine Brown, 84, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Full Gospel
Church with the Rev. Harrol Waterbury and the Rev. Tim
Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery
by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
Mrs. Brown was born in Newton County, Mo., on Jan. 4,
1919. She had lived in the area since 1946, moving from
Granby, Mo.
She married Wick Brown on Sept. 16, 1938, in Granby. She
was a clerk and was a member of Full Gospel Church of
Perryton.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2000, and her
parents, Thomas and Pochahontas (Gold) Johnson.
Survivors include a son, Ron Brown of Perryton; a
daughter, Kay Stamps of Perryton; two brothers, Billy
Johnson of Perryton and LaVaughn Johnson of Carl
Junction, Mo.; two sisters, Joyce Chapman and Rose Cole,
both of Wichita, Kan.; four grandchildren; and eight
great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Full Gospel Church,
P.O. Box 845, Perryton, TX 79070.

Ellen Smith
PERRYTON - Ellen Smith, 71, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003,
in Amarillo.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Key Heights Baptist
Church with the Rev. Jeff Stayton officiating. Burial
will be in Ochiltree Cemtery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral
Home.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by
her husband, Delbert, earlier this year.
Survivors include three sons, Gary Smith and Ron Smith,
both of Amarillo, and Rick Smith of Waycross, Ga.; nine
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Key Heights Baptist
Church, P.O. Box 923, Perryton, TX 79070 or to a favorite
charity.

Tony Hopkins
PERRYTON - Tony Hopkins, 48, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in First United
Methodist Church with the Rev. Greg Kennedy officiating.
Cremation will follow the service. Arrangements are by
Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.
Mr. Hopkins was a hair stylist in Perryton. He attended
First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Billie Hopkins of Perryton;
a sister, Jeannie Hale of Perryton; seven nieces and
nephews; and eight great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family suggests memorials be to Perryton Activity
Center, P.O. Box 829, Perryton, TX 79070 or to your
favorite charity.
