Frank Phillips College is a public institution, operating
under state control, located in Borger, Hutchinson
County, TX. Total enrollment is approximately 1100. The
program leads to associates degrees. Student housing is
available for 180.

Exhibits depicting Hutchinson County are from time of
Coronado to boom-town days. This museum traces the
history of the county and the town of Borger.
Exhibits depict the Spanish exploration, the Plains
Indians, the American frontier and the discovery of oil,
when Borger's population grew from 15 to 35,000 in 3
months.Admission is free but donations are gladly
accepted.
Open Mon. to Fri. from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sat. 11 a.m. to
4:30 p.m.; open Sun during the summer months, memorial
Day through Labor Day, 2 to 4 p.m. Closed major legal
holidays.

Hutchinson County Library, serving an area of 24,000
residents, has a collection of 58,000 books and
periodicals; in addition, there are 1,100 CDs, records,
cassettes and other audio materials, as well as 1,980
video items, such as DVDs and VHS tapes. Internet
terminals are available for use by the general public.
Staffing consists of 8 employees, including one fully
accredited librarian, plus volunteers. The system
comprises one central library and 2 branch libraries.
Annual expenditures on the library collection total
$32,000. Patrons make 63,000 visits annually, and check
out materials 81,000 times. Twenty-seven percent of all
check-outs are children's materials.

A 25 mile loop crosses rough, canyon cut landscapes of
the Canadian River brakes; leads across the dam
impounding Lake Meredith, Texas
West and North to Stinnett --136 west, F.M. 1319, and
F.M. 687 north.
South and East to Borger -- S on FM 687, FM 1319, and E
on TX 136.

Lake Meredith National
Recreation Area
Lake Meredith, impounded by Sanford Dam, is about 45
miles northeast of Amarillo and 9 miles west of Borger
via SR 136. Recreational facilities are at Blue West,
Cedar Canyon, Fritch Fortress, Harbor Bay, Plum Creek and
Sanford Yake. Additional facilities are available at
McBride and Bugbee Canyon. Houseboat rentals are
available from the Marina at Lake Meredith.
