Ernest M. Newcomb - 1997

Ernest M. Newcomb, 94, died Sunday Dec, 14,1997.

Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 1997 at First Christian Church with the Rev. Joseph Weaks, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Mr. Newcomb was born in Dickens County and had lived in the Spearman area most of his life. He worked for the city of Spearman for 25 years before retiring in 1975. After his retirement, he worked for the Stationmaster's House Museum in Spearman for several years. Mr. Newcomb served in the Army during World War II. He was an amateur photographer and a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include a sister-in-law Joy Newcomb of Wichita Falls; and several nieces and nephews, including Charles H. Newcomb of Spearman, the family requests memorials be to Hansford Manor, Hansford Hospice, the Stationmaster s House Museum, or a favorite charity.
