Mrs. Nancy Ownbey Eaker
Spearman, Jan. 2 - Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Ownbey Eaker,
38, native of Adobe Walls and member of a prominent North Plains
ranch family, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the
Canadian Methodist church. Interment will be in Holt Cemetery,
near Spearman, under the direction of Stickley Funeral Home of
Canadian.
Mrs. Eaker was killed at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday in a car
accident near Alton, ILL., where she had lived the past 13 years.
Her daughter, Martha, 4, was critically injured in the collision
and is hospitalized at Alton.
Relatives said Mrs. Eaker was thrown from the car,
but her husband, Dr. William Eaker, and three other children,
Jimmy ,Donna and William Eaker escaped injury in the mishap.
Mrs. Eaker, a registered nurse, was born Oct. 19, 1919, at
Adobe Walls in Hutchison county and was reared in that area. She
was graduated from Amarillo High School in 1938. she lived in
Spearman until moving to Alton, IL, about 15 years ago.
Survivors other than the husband and children
include a twin brother, Robert J.Ownbey of Spearman and her
mother Mrs. Jim Ownbey of Canadian.
The body is being carried overland from Alton and is
expected to arrive in Canadian Friday.
