Ruby Wigham Harmon
PANHANDLE - Ruby Wigham Harmon, 96, died Sunday, May 4,
2003, in Garland.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Christian
Church with Ted H. Welch Sr., pastor, and the Rev.
Leonard Forsythe, pastor of Bible Baptist Church in
Borger, officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery
by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Harmon was born Nov. 14, 1906, in Wichita Falls, to
Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Wigham. She married R.P. Harmon of
Panhandle on Aug. 4, 1935. She began teaching piano while
still in her teens in Wellington. The family moved to
Panhandle in 1916. She began playing piano for her church
while she was still in grade school. She retired from
teaching piano in 1981. She was a lover of music and
poetry.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and a grandson,
Douglas Harmon.
Survivors include a son, Ralph Harmon and wife, Barbara,
of Amarillo; a daughter, Georgia Bell Newman and husband,
Don, of Garland; a sister, Georgia Bell McFarling of
Austin; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and
many beloved nieces and nephews.

Carla Meyer Dittberner
PANHANDLE - Carla Meyer Dittberner, 45, died Monday, May
12, 2003, in Austin.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist
Church in White Deer with the Rev. Calvin Winters, pastor
of First Southern Baptist Church of Fritch, and the Rev.
Harold Abney of Plainview officiating. Burial will be in
Panhandle Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Dittberner was born Jan. 5, 1958, in Amarillo, to
Carl and Carol Meyer of Skellytown. She was married to
Terry Don Dittberner on Dec. 28, 1976. Carla was a
mother, homemaker and served as church secretary of First
Baptist Church in White Deer, where she and her family
were members for many years. She taught children's Sunday
school as well as children's choir and G.A.'s.
She had a passion for music and loved singing as a member
of the church praise team, and had been the church
pianist. Carla was a past member of Veranda Blanco Study
Club. After moving to Austin in 1997, she became a member
of Hays Hills Baptist Church in Buda. Carla was a cancer
survivor for 20 years following a bone marrow transplant
in 1984 in Seattle.
Survivors include her husband of Austin; a daughter,
Tammy Michelle Yourman and husband, Brian, of New
Braunfels; a son, Trey Jonathan of College Station; her
parents of Skellytown; three brothers, Gary Meyer and
wife, Cheryl, of Skellytown, Greg Meyer and wife,
Constance, of Austin and John Meyer and wife, Susan, of
Houston; her grandfather, E.S. "Cap" Byars of
Memphis; and her father-in-law, Ed Dittberner of
Panhandle.
The family suggests memorials be to Harrington Cancer
Center of Amarillo; Lonestar Hospice, 1212 Palm Valley
Blvd., Round Rock, TX 78664; or First Baptist Church of
White Deer.
Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the
funeral home.

Marcus Andrew Jolly
PANHANDLE - Marcus Andrew Jolly, 101, died Thursday, May
22, 2003, in Amarillo.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First United
Methodist Church of Panhandle with the Rev. Vernon
O'Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park
Cemetery in Borger by Boxwell Brothers at Panhandle.
Mr. Jolly was born Dec. 15, 1901, in Panhandle. He was
the owner of Jolly Drug Store in Phillips and had worked
at the Panhandle Country Club. He was a veteran of World
War I and World War II, serving in the Navy.
Survivors include a son, Mark Jolly of Amarillo; two
daughters, Linda Cranfill of Denton and Carol Smith of
Panhandle; six grandchildren, Vance Cranfill, Andrea
Stillwell, McKenna Thomason, Spencer Smith, Brynn Jolly
and Bryan Jolly; six great-grandchildren, Cal Cranfill,
Makena Stillwell, Luke Stillwell, Nicholas Stillwell,
Jayden Jolly and Cole Jolly; and several nieces and
nephews.
The family suggests memorials be to Cal Farley's Boys
Ranch, 600 W. 11th Ave., Amarillo, TX 79101; or First
United Methodist Church at Panhandle.
The body will be available for viewing from 10 a.m. to 6
p.m. today at Boxwell Brothers at Panhandle.

Jack Wayland McClellan
Sr.
PANHANDLE - Jack Wayland McClellan Sr., 70, died
Wednesday, May 21, 2003.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Calvary Baptist
Church with the Rev. Bill Fuller, pastor of First Baptist
Church, officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery
by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors.
Mr. McClellan was born Dec. 16, 1932, in Wellington. He
had been a Panhandle resident since 1969, moving there
from Amarillo. He married June Parker on Sept. 12, 1953,
in Blackwood Monmouthshire, South Wales. He had been a
volunteer fireman since 1970, a fire Marshall, dispatcher
and a member of State Fireman's and Fire Marshall's
Association of Texas.
He was also a member of Brothers of Third Wheel Inc.,
International Trikers Association, American Association
of Retired Persons, American Legion, International
Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union.
Mr. McClellan was a Bexar County Sheriff's deputy. He was
a retired machinist from the Pantex plant, Mason and
Hanger. He served in the Air Force during the Korean
Conflict and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in
Panhandle.
Survivors include a son, Jack Wayland McClellan Jr. of
Corsicana; three daughters, Gill Armstrong of
Stephenville, Lynda June Hitchcock of Valparaiso, Ind.,
and Vickie Scott of Round Rock; a brother, Jimmy
McClellan of Pearsall; 10 grandchildren; and five
great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Panhandle Volunteer
Fire Department.

Margaret Kirk Dauer
PANHANDLE - Margaret Kirk Dauer, 81, died Sunday, May 25,
2003.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Panhandle First
United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Matsler
officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by
Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Dauer was born Feb. 20, 1922, in DeQueen, Ark. She
graduated from White Deer High School in 1939 and married
Paul Dauer on June 8, 1941.
Margaret Dauer was a partner with Dauer Herefords for 62
years. Representing the ranching industry, she was a
member of Top O' Texas CattleWomen, Texas CattleWomen,
National CattleWomen and Texas Hereford Auxiliary. She
received the Texas Cattle Woman of the Year award in
1984.
Margaret and husband, Paul, were awarded the Panhandle
Chamber of Commerce Farm and Ranch Family of the Year
award in 1988. The 1989 Fort Worth Southwestern Livestock
Show was dedicated to their work in the Hereford cattle
industry.
Margaret was a member of American Society of Interior
Designers, State of Texas Interior Designers and owned
her own business, Decorators Lane. She served on the
Garretson Retirement Center board of directors. She was a
volunteer for St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment
Program and Crown of Texas Hospice.
She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Wives,
past president of the Atheneum Club and a charter member
of Panhandle Country Club. She was an active member of
the First United Methodist Church of Panhandle, where she
served on the church board and taught Sunday school.
Margaret was also awarded the 1990 Women's Forum
Distinguished Service Award and was nominated for the
Golden Nail Award in 1991.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990.
Survivors include two sons, John Paul Dauer and wife,
Patty, and Steve Dauer and wife, Ashlee Flowers, all of
Panhandle; seven grandchildren, Rachel Dauer and Russell
Dauer, both of Leander, Micca Rasp and husband, Josh, of
Colorado Springs, Colo., Justin Dauer and wife, Barbi, of
Panhandle, Stephanie Sammons and husband, Brad, of
Amarillo, Amy Biggs and husband, Ryan, of Frisco and Tomi
Gerber and husband, Charles, of Bailey, Colo.; and four
great-grandchildren, Halee Biggs, Ashby Dauer, Jared
Dauer and Katelyn Sammons.
The family suggests memorials be to First Methodist
Church of Panhandle; Crown of Texas Hospice; or a
favorite charity.
