Robert Ryan
SKELLYTOWN - Robert Ryan, 63, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Brown Funeral
Directors Chapel of the Fountains in Borger with Charlie
Floyd, of Texola, Okla., officiating. Burial will be in
Westlawn Cemetery in Borger.
Mr. Ryan was a lab technician for J.M. Huber Corp. He was
Santa Claus for area children and a member of Boy Scouts
of America.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine; a son, Donald Glen
Ryan of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Pamela
Ayers of Canyon and Tonya Evans of San Antonio; a
stepbrother, Max Greene of Spartanburg, S.C.; six
grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

"Mo" Mohon
PANHANDLE - Howard Leon "Mo" Mohon, 87, died
Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in First Christian Church
with the Rev. Ted Welch, pastor, officiating. Burial will
be in Panhandle Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral
Directors.
Mr. Mohon was born July 6, 1916, in Denton County. He
served in the Navy during World War II and was owner of
an antique store.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores; two sons, Purvis
Mohon of Dimmitt and Jerre Don Mohon of Arlington; three
stepsons, Jimmy Lee Wilson of Mount Juliet, Tenn.,
Kenneth Ray Wilson of Kyle and Thomas Edward Wilson of
Wichita, Kan.; a daughter, Cynthia Mohon of Irvine,
Calif.; two stepdaughters, Carol Sue Adame of Panhandle
and Sherryl Simon of Wichita; a brother, Howard Irick of
Aubrey; a sister, Hazel Molmen of Denton; 17
grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-
grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Crown of Texas
Hospice, 1000 S. Jefferson St., Amarillo, TX 79101 or to
First Christian Church of Panhandle.

Maynard Kotara
WHITE DEER - Maynard Kotara, 65, died Saturday, Dec. 13,
2003, in Amarillo.
Vigil services will be at 6 p.m. Monday in
Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel.
Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic
Church with Monsignor Kevin Hand, rector, officiating.
Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
Mr. Kotara was born Sept. 15, 1938, in Pampa. He married
Nancy Ensey on March 25, 1975, at White Deer.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Rick Kotara of Canyon;
two daughters, Rhonda Reed and Kathy Davis, both of
Bowie; his mother, Theresa Kotara of White Deer; one
brother, John Kotara of White Deer; four sisters, Joy
Grange of White Deer, Marilyn Voyles of Corpus Christi,
Gay Blaylock of San Antonio and Debbie Huff of Grand
Prairie; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
The family suggests memorials to the V.A. Health Care

PANHANDLE - James Calvin Hall, 76, died Monday, Dec. 15,
2003.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in First
Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Fowler, pastor,
officiating. Arrangements are by Minton/Chatwell Funeral
Directors.
Mr. Hall was born Nov. 25, 1927, in Iowa. He was a member
of International Union of Operating Engineers.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Lee Hall of Germany; a
daughter, Kay Villanueva of Billings, Mont.; five
grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Stephenson
SKELLYTOWN - Billy Joe Stephenson, 71, died Thursday,
Dec. 18, 2003, in Plano.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today in Memory
Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Fines Marchman, pastor of
First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by
Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.
Mr. Stephenson was born Oct. 16, 1932, in Borger. He
married Billie Jo Willoughby on Aug. 30, 1952, in Denver.
He had been a resident of Skellytown since 1959. He
retired from Pantex as a supervisor after 35 years of
service. He was a member of Skellytown Lions Club and
First Baptist Church of Skellytown.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Sept. 6, 2003;
two sons, David Stephenson and Randy Stephenson; his
parents, George Franklin and Julia Augusta Stephenson;
three sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynda Truelove of The
Colony; a son, Danny Stephenson of Florence, Colo.; a
sister, Frances Richardson of Amarillo; a brother, J.E.
Stephenson of New Hall, Calif.; six grandchildren; and
four great-grandchildren.

Thompson
PANHANDLE -- Floyd Eugene Thompson, of Hobbs, N.M., 73,
died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, in Hobbs, N.M.
No services are planned. Arrangements are by Chapel of
Hope Funeral Home in Hobbs.
Mr. Thompson was born in Borger on May 1, 1930. He worked
as a long-haul driver for many years and later moved to
Las Vegas and worked in the casinos until retirement.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Rydell of Dallas, and
Tim Rydell of Indianapolis; two stepdaughters, Vicki
Olson of Spokane, Wash., and Debbie Johnston of Post
Falls, Idaho; several grandchildren; and a brother,
Vernon Thompson of Goodrich.
The family suggests memorials be to Hobbs Health Care,
5715 Lovington Highway, Hobbs, NM 88240.

Mary Mae Harvill
WHITE DEER - Mary Mae Harvill, 87, died Thursday, Dec.
18, 2003, in Pampa.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Buie Funeral Home
Chapel in Rison, Ark., with the Rev. Jim Tollison, pastor
of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial
will be in Prosperity Cemetery in Herbine, Ark. Local
arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors
of Pampa.
Mrs. Harvill attended the Assembly of God Church. She had
been a longtime resident of White Deer.
Survivors include two sons, Doyle Harvill of Pampa and
Joseph David Harvill of Dallas; a sister, Sybil Pendleton
of El Paso; eight grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.

Smith
PANHANDLE - Frances Strickland Smith, 95, died Thursday,
Dec. 25, 2003.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Panhandle First
Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Fuller, pastor of First
Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in
Wienert Cemetery in Wienert by Minton/Chatwell Funeral
Directors.
Mrs. Smith was born Oct. 8, 1908, in Comanche County. She
was a teacher at Sunset Elementary School.
Survivors include a son, Delton Smith of Panhandle; a
daughter, Marilynn Jetton of Thornton, Colo., a sister,
June Donica of San Antonio; five grandchildren; and 11
great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be to St. Ann's Nursing
Home, P.O. Box 1179, Panhandle, TX 79068.
