"This photo is of the LOY family.
L-R: (Seated) Parthena SMITH LOY, daughter Alpha LOY,
Peter Stillman LOY, Luther James LOY.
The man in the back row is not identified
Alpha had written on the back of this photo:
"Just before we went to Oklahoma. I was nine and Luther was
eleven years."
The photo was taken in the Burden
Branch of a
Winfield Kansas photo shop named G.H. Dresser.
The date is unknown, but the Loys were in
Kingfisher by the time of the 1890 census.
Luther was born in 1880, and Alpha in
1882, so the ages
that she wrote on the back of the picture may have been off by a
year or two.
The LOY family left Kingfisher for Zion, Lake County, Illinois around 1902.
