The library is a
comprehensive facility for historical and genealogical research.
The collection includes local history in America, embracing
state, county, town and church materials, genealogies,
biographies and vital records. These histories provide the link
in connecting ancestors of the Revolutionary period with today's
descendants.
The library is open to the public Monday through Friday 8:45 am
to 4 pm, Sunday 1 pm to 5 pm except holiday weekends. Closed
federal holidays and to non-DAR members during the DAR's annual
meeting in April. Unannounced closings may occur. Please check
before planning a visit from a distance. Non-DAR members pay a
nominal fee for use of the library for research: $5 Monday
through Friday, $3 on Sunday, $2 during lunch break (11 am - 1:30
pm).

The NSSAR Historical and
Genealogical Library is a comprehensive reference and research
facility, with over 50,000 items (books, microfilms, etc).
The library is located at 1000 South Fourth Street, Louisville,
KY 40203 -- phone (502)-589-1776. It is open to the public Monday
through Friday from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. There is no fee for
members of SAR, DAR, SR or Friends of the SAR Library (which
costs $25.00 per year); others pay a nominal fee of $5.00 per day
for use of the library.

The National Society of the Children of the American Revolution,
founded in 1895, is the oldest patriotic organization for youths
in our country. Membership is open to descendents of patriots of
the American Revolution.
The age range is birth to twenty-one. Meetings and activities are
planned for all ages with special consideration given to younger
members.

Any man of the age of 18
years, of good moral character and reputation, and a citizen of
the United States, and who is lineally descended, in the male
line of either parent, from an ancestor who settled in any of the
colonies now included in the United States of America prior to 13
May 1657; and one or all of whose intermediate ancestors in the
same line, who lived in the period of the American Revolution,
from 1775 to 1783, adhered as patriots to the cause of the
colonies, shall be eligible for membership in the Order.

England ancestry to engage in charitable, educational and
patriotic work and thus perpetuate the lofty ideals and examples
of their forefathers."
Any woman 18 or older descended from one or more ancestors born
in New England prior to the signing of the Constitution of the
United States in 1789, is eligible to join. Junior membership is
available to girls 6 to 17 years old.

be eligible to membership, provided that she shall be acceptable
to the Society and shall be the lineal descendant of an ancestor
who rendered civil or military service in any of the colonies
prior to July 4, 1776. Legal adoption shall not qualify for
lineal descent. Membership is by inviation only.
