THE INDEPENDENCE EXAMINER, May 18, 1912

The closing exercises of the Buckner High School was held last night in the Christian Church. An essay on "Friendship" was read by Mary Sue Chiles; an oration on "The Dangers that Menace our Republic: by John Hudson and an essay, "An Uncrowded King," by Edwina Johnson. The address to the graduating class was made by the Rev. John P. Fruit, of William Jewell College, Liberty, MO, his subject being "The Old Chivalry". The diplomas to the graduates were delivered by Chase Henthorn, president of the board of education. Music was furnished by young men from this city.

The commencement exercises of the Oak Grove High school were held at the Opera House in that city. The call address was delivered by Mayor Jost of Kansas City. There were 13 in the graduating class this year, 7 boys and 6 girls. They are: Hubert Bean, Seryl Webb, Jason Cline, Robert Renick, Stone Webb, Robin Livesay, Robert Lewis, Miss Gertrude Renick, Miss Zelia Gibson, Miss Anna Livesay, Miss Fahy Church, Miss Hazel Bledsoe, Miss Haley Johnson. The first honors in the class go to Fahy Church, second to Anna Livesay, and third to Hubert Bean.

The commencement exercises of the Blue Springs schools will be held Wednesday and Thursay nights of next week. On Wednesday night the Grammar school exercises will be held, and on Thursday night the graduates of the High school will present their program. The High school graduates are Florence Mabel Gore, Lucy Edith Strode, Georgia Marie Stayton, Clarence M. Johnson, Eunice Kathaline Saunders, Gladys Katherine St. Clair, George O. McGuire, Milton C. Ford. The address and presentation of the diplomas will be by the Rev. W. A. Morrison.
