LOUISE M. MOREELS 

Louise M. Moreels, 85, Independence, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at her home. 

Mrs. Moreels was born Dec. 6, 1914, in Loochrist, Belgium. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and the Rosary Society. Her husband, Vincent Moreels, died in 1999. 

Her survivors include a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lucien and Dora Moreels, Independence; and several nieces and nephews, all of Belgium. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at the church. Entombment will be in the Mount Olivet Mausoleum, Raytown. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.

JUDY STALLONE 

Judy Stallone, 52, Spickard, Mo., died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. 

Miss Stallone was born Nov. 22, 1947, in St. Louis and was raised by her adopted parents, Sam B. and Helen Stallone. She had lived most of her life in the Independence area until moving to Trenton, Mo., in 1993. She was the assistant director victims advocate of the Mary Sue Fountain Foundation in Trenton. She was a Catholic by faith. 

Her survivors include a daughter, Kimberly Wilson, Spickard; two sons, James Michael Emert, Dallas, and Christopher Joseph Emert, McCloud, Kan.; one sister, Madelyn Stallone, Independence; five grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Nativity of the Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Independence. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the church, where a rosary will be read at 7 p.m.

NELLIE J. WILSON 

Nellie J. Wilson, 88, Independence, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at her home. 

Mrs. Wilson was born Feb. 7, 1911, in Independence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. Thompson in 1963, and Orville Trego in 1989. 

Her survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Mike W. and Cheryl K. Thompson, Lake Tapawingo; three daughters and sons-in-law, Christie S. and Ron J. Doumitt, Independence, Patricia M. and Les C. Frizzell, Bates City, and Pamela K. and Gary D. Garrett, Independence; one sister, Lucille Larson, Jefferson City; one brother, Charles E. Layton, Houston; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

June Alvina LaRock of Columbia, Mo., formerly of Independence, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at Hutchison (Kan.) Hospital. 

Mrs. LaRock was born June 20, 1919, in Independence, and has been a resident of Columbia since 1951. She was a retired claims adjuster for MFA/Shelter In-surance Co. She was a member of the Missouri United Methodist Church in Columbia. Her husband, George M. LaRock, died March 14, 1999. 

Her survivors include two daughters, Janice Hendrickson, Hutchison, and Judy LaRock-Mosley, The Woodlands, Texas; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Louise M. Kolster, 94, Wellington, Mo., died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at her home. 

Mrs. Kolster was born Nov. 15, 1905, in Alma, Mo., and was a lifelong Wellington resident. She had been a housekeeper for the Lexington (Mo.) Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. Luke's Evangelical Church, Wellington, the Church Women's Fellowship and the Builders Sunday school class. Her husband, Paul A. Kolster, died in 1959. 

Her survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Emmett and Myrnell Kolster, Lathrop, Mo., Harvey and Rosalie Kolster, Grain Valley, and Ryland and Karen Kolster, Apache Junction, Ariz.; one daughter and son-in-law, Pauline and Larry Tilly, Wellington; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

William Littau, 85, Independence, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center. 

Mr. Littau was born Jan. 2, 1914, in Four Acre, Okla., and had lived in this area for more than 50 years. He worked for Armco Steel for 39 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church, and was an Army veteran of World War II.

CARL E. CROSS 

Carl E. Cross, 75, Independence, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center. 

Mr. Cross was born Oct. 7, 1924, in Midland, Ark. He retired as a welder from the Hesse Corp. after 25 years of service. He was currently a school crossing guard for the Independence Police Department. He was a member of the Waldo Avenue Baptist Church. 

His survivors include his wife of 51 years, Opal Marie Cross of the home; two sons, William E. Cross, Parkville, Mo., and Thomas R. Cross, Raytown; two daughters, Mona L. Osborn, In-dependence, and Carol J. Langston, Quapaw, Okla.; two sisters, Geraldine Lovett and Rosie Hawkins, both of Waldron, Ark.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

MARY G. RILEY 

Mary Georgia Riley, 79, Independence, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999. 

Mrs. Riley was born Jan. 2, 1920, in Bicknell, Ind., and moved to this area in 1947. She worked for the Bendix Corp., and then worked for the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant for 20 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of Mount Washington United Methodist Church and Eastgate Chapter 367 of the Order of Eastern Star. She graduated from high school in River Rouge, Mich., and was a Navy veteran of World War II. She married her second husband, George Riley in 1972 and he preceded her in death in 1976. 

Her survivors include two sons, William M. Haynes Jr., and James R. Haynes, both of Kansas City; one daughter, Mary Beth Nelson, Sheboygan, Wis.; one brother, Robert J. Cullen, El Paso, Texas; one sister, Betty Watson, Alta Loma, Calif.; and six grandchildren. 

Services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the chapel.

RODNEY A. HARTSELL 

Rodney Allen Hartsell, 15, Weaubleau, Mo., died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, in Independence. 

Rodney was born in Kansas City and had lived in Osceola, Mo., six years before moving to Weaubleau in October 1999. He was a ninth grade student at Weaubleau High School, where he was an honor student. He had been elected as a master councelor for the Sac-Osage Order of DeMolay in Eldorado Springs, Mo. 

His survivors include his mother, Donna Benton of Garden City, Mo.; his maternal grandmother, Dorothy M. Hartsell, with whom he made his home; a brother, Chad Eugene Benton of the home; his maternal grandfather, George C. Hartsell, Garden City; maternal great-grandparents, Bertha Thomas, Lee's Summit, Allen Vernon Lee, Clinton, Mo.; two aunts, Georganna Graham, Liberty, Mo., and Sherlyne Hickerson, Drexel, Mo.; and uncle, Robert Hartsell, Green Forest, Ark.

Aaron Michael Sawtell, 11, Independence, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at his home. Aaron was born in Marceline, Mo., and had lived in this area for 10 years. He was a sixth grade student at Ott Elementary School. He was a Boy Scout and an honor roll student. He was a member of Rose of Sharon Pentecostal Church.

LEONARD W. WEBB 

Leonard W. Webb, 90, Oak Grove, died Monday, December 27, 1999, at his home. 

Mr. Webb was born Sept. 17, 1909, in Oak Grove and resided in Oak Grove for his lifetime. He was married to Pauline R. Western on January 14, 1935. He was employed as a newspaper carrier for the Kansas City Star & Times for 27 years, retiring in 1969. Following his retirement, he was employed part-time for the Town & Country Shopper in Oak Grove until several years ago. He was a 50-year member of the Oak Grove Masonic Lodge and a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Oak Grove. 

Webb was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline R. Western, on December 26, 1987. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Judi Webb, Oak Grove, Richard and Carolyn Webb, Big Timber, Mont., and Philip Webb, Manassas, Va.; a brother, Clem Webb, Independence; grandchildren, Dana Grittman, Bates City, Mo., Mike Webb, Sheldon, Mo., Stephanie Stibar, Richardson, Texas. and Richard Webb, Billings, Mont.; and great-grandchildren Britney Grittman, Chad Grittman and Brock Webb.

Walter C. Garland, 74, Texas City, Texas, formerly of Independence, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, in Texas City.

Betty L. Gonzales, 69, Raytown, formerly of Independence, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at the Independence Re-gional Health Center.

RALPH K. SUNDERLAND

Ralph Kenneth Sunderland, 75, Independence, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at his home. 

Mr. Sunder-land was born Jan. 5, 1924, in Kansas City, Kan., and had lived in Independence for the past 45 years. He grew up in the Gashland/Dearborn area and earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Kansas City, now the University of Missouri-Kansas City. A veteran of World War II, he served in Shanghai, China, where he received a Purple Heart. In 1956, he founded Sunderland Accounting Services and remained involved in its day-to-day operations. He was a member of the Missouri Society of Accountants, and was a certified financial planner. He was a member of the RLDS Special Ministries Church in Englewood. He was an avid gardener. 

His survivors include his wife of 44 years, Lillian Sunderland of the home; his children, William, Diane Simmons, David, Daniel, Gary and Randy, and stepson Michael; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert, Las Vegas, Nev.; and one sister, Nina Winn, Independence. 

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. A private burial will be held in Mound Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. L. Faye McCullough, 83, Blue Springs, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at the Monterey Park Nursing Center. 

Mrs. McCullough was born Jan. 3, 1916, in Ludlow, Mo. She was an assembly inspector for Bendix (Allied Signal) for 30 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lee's Summit, and the Royal Neighbors. Her husband, Lowell C. McCullough, died in 1992.

MARGARET 'MAXINE' VYROSTEK 

Margaret 'Maxine' (O'Brien) Vyrostek, 81, Jamesport, Mo., died Monday, December 27, at her home. 

Mrs. Vyrostek was born February 9, 1918, near James-town, Mo., and was a lifelong resident of that area. She married Cary Vyrostek, August 24, 1937. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Christian Women Fellowship, Gallatin, and the Blake Community Club. 

She was preceded in death by Mr. Vyrostek, October 9, 1978. Survivors include her children, Del Ray, Gallatin, Mo., Barbara Lent, Independence, Mo., Cheryl Lett, Cincinnati, Ohio; and nine grandchildren.

Bobbie Sue Marshall Hill, 63, Oak Grove, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City. 

Mrs. Hill was born Oct. 7, 1936, in Jackson, Miss. She married Melvin L. Hill on Oct. 6, 1972. She had been employed as a human resource specialist at Veterans Administration Hospitals in Jackson and at other locations retiring after 33 years at the Kansas City VA Hospital. She and her husband had also managed the Oak Grove KOA campground for the past two years.

FREDA W. HINNAH 

Freda W. Hinnah, 93, Independence, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center. 

She was born July 12, 1903, in New Haven, Mo., and had also lived in Gilliam City, Mo., before moving to Independence in 1939. She was a member of the Gilliam United Methdodist Church and the Missouri State Retired Teachers Association. She taught science at William Chrisman Junior High School in Independence for many years before her retirement. 

Her survivors include two nieces, a nephew and several cousins.

Herbert William Theis Meyer, 90, Pleasant Hill, Mo., died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs. 

Mr. Meyer was April 22, 1909, in Blackburn, Mo., and had lived in Alma before moving to Pleasant Hill in 1990. He married Lillie C. Drosselmeyer on Jan. 16, 1935, and she preceded him in death on April 9, 1994. He was a farmer and a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Blackburn. 

His survivors include two daughters, Nancy JoAnn Meyer, Independence, and Ruby Louise Spear, Pleasant Hill; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Jean Russell. 

Services will be at 11 a. m. Friday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Blackburn. Burial will be in Blackburn Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Stanley & Son Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill.

JACK E. VANDERPOOL 

Jack E. Vanderpool, 67, Independence, died December 27, 1999, at the Medical Center of Independence. 

Mr. Vanderpool was born in Plattsburg, Mo. He moved to Independence in 1971, having formerly resided in Kansas City. He was an electrical technician for Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, retiring in 1993. He was a lifetime member of the Sugar Creek VFW Post 3976. He served in the United States Navy and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of Korea, receiving a United Nations Service Medal. 

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Barbara Vanderpool; a son, Jack E. Vanderpool Jr., Independence; two daughters and son-in-law, Donna Vanderpool, Independence, Terry Saye and Rolland Saye, Independence; and grandson Seth Saye, Independence. 

Funeral services were today at New Salem Funeral Home, Independence. Burial was in New Salem Cemetery with V.F.W. Military honors. Family suggests contributions to the Disabled American Veterans, 4801 E. Linwood Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. 64158. Arrangements may be sent to New Salem Funeral Home, 1823 Blue Mills Road, Independence.
