JENNIFER CHRISTINE ARTERBURN 

Jennifer Christine Arterburn, 18, Kansas City, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at the Truman Medical Center. 

Ms. Arterburn was born Nov. 22, 1981, in Odessa, Texas. She was a senior at Truman High School who was talented in art and dancing. 

She is survived by her parents, Cynthia and Timothy Pingleton, of the home; sisters Valerie and Sarah Pingleton, of the home; grandparents Earl and Lois Harvey, Los Lunas, N.M.; grandparents Elmer and Helen Pingleton, Alton, Mo.; and many other family members. 

Funeral services will be noon Monday at the First Presbyterian Church of Independence. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. 

Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Floral Hills in memory of Jennifer Arterburn.

MURIEL W. SANDIDGE 

Muriel W. Sandidge, 91, Independence, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston, Iowa. 

Mrs. Sandidge was born April 13, 1908, in Ryder, N.D., and had lived in this community since 1945. She was a secretary for the RLDS Center Stake for 25 years, retiring in 1973. She was a member of the RLDS Cornerstone Church. Her husband, Joseph L. Sandidge, died in 1971. 

Her survivors include one son, Rex Sandidge, Quincy, Ill.; one daughter, Phyllis O'Daniels, Creston; four grandchildren; six nieces; and three nephews. 

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Speaks Midtown Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8 tonight at the chapel. LINDA R. O'NEAL 

Linda R. O'Neal, 44, Raytown, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at St. Luke's Hospital. 

Ms. O'Neal was born Oct. 14, 1955, in Kansas City. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rhonda Knowles in 1976. 

Her survivors include one son, Timothy Dale Walters, Raytown; two daughters, Mayvis Lynn Walters and Brandy Dee McCannon, both of Kansas City; two brothers, J.D. Hooper, Tahlequah, Okla., and Dale J. O'Neal, Independence; five sisters, Pamela J. Green and Rhonda D. Sylvan, both of Kansas City, Terry Singleton, Raytown, Lisa M. Frank, Independence, and Jennifer L. Hanson, Harrison, Ark.; her fiancˇ, Jimmy L. Green, Independence; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

LORENZ GRUBER 

Lorenz Gruber, 70, Independence, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at the Medical Center of Independence. 

Mr. Gruber was born in Aschenau, Germany, and lived in Canada from 1957 to 1960 before moving to Schaumburg, Ill. He had lived in the Independence area for about a month. He was the owner-operator of several barber shops, from which he retired in 1994. Mr. Gruber was a member of the Beliner Bears Club, Chicago. 

He is survived by his wife, Ingeborg Gruber, Independence; daughter and son-in-law, Curt and Christine Sevage, Independence; sister Katherin Schoske, Germany; brother Erich Gruber, Barrington, Ill.; two grandchildren. 

Memorial services will be 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church, Blue Springs. 

Contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.

JOHN L. 'JACK' COOPER 

John L. 'Jack' Cooper, 85, Kansas City, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at his home. 

Mr. Cooper was born June 21, 1914, in East St. Louis, Ill. He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1941 to 1945. He worked at the U.S. Army Record Center, St. Louis and transferred to Kansas City in 1949. He worked with the Army Reserve and the Social Security Administration until his retirement in June 1975. 

He is survived by his wife, Anne, of the home; one son, Jerry T. Cooper, Bloomingdale, Ill; three daughters, Diane Smith and husband, Gary, Lawrenceville, Ga.; Sheila Bailey and husband, Frank, Lee's Summit; and Jeanne Richins and husband, Ralph, of Kansas City and Denver, Colo.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Monday in St. Bernadette Catholic Church, with enmonument to follow at Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. 

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Sheil Colonial Funeral Home. A Rosary service will be held at 8 p.m. The family recommends contributions to the St. Luke's Hospice and the St. Bernadette Building Fund.

Kerry Gayle 'Cage' O'Bannon, 54, Oak Grove, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at his home. 

Mr. O'Bannon was born July 11, 1945, in Kansas City. He had been employed as a tool room technician at Ball Corp. in Kansas City. He was a member of the United Steelworkers of America Local 8907.

RONALD L. MURPHREE 

Ronald L. Murphree, 60, Liberty, Mo., formerly of Sugar Creek, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at St. Joseph Health Center. 

Mr. Murphree was born Dec. 29, 1938, in Tulsa, Okla. He was a machinist for the AGCO Corp., formerly Allis-Chalmers, for more than 25 years, retiring in 1989, and was a member of the Steel Workers Union Local 1958. He served in the Army Reserves, and was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. He was a past member of Fairmount Christian Church, and a current member of Northland Pentecostal Church. 

His survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Murphree of the home; three sons, Ronald Guy Murphree and John Patrick Murphree, both of Richmond, Mo., and James Michael Murphree and wife, Lyda, Cameron, Mo.; four sister, Carole Payton, Oklahoma City, Okla., Cathe Vitone, Stillwater, Okla., Sharon Smith, Enid, Okla., and Audrey Whitson, Summerville, S.C.; his mother, Pearl Hadley, Stillwater; and grandchildren, Jonathan, Michael James, Chastity and Jamie Murphree, and Aaron, Ashley and Alicia Howard.

ALVIN G. HAUSE 

Alvin George Hause, 107, Hendersonville, Tenn., formerly of Independence, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, in Tennessee. 

Mr. Hause was born April 27, 1892, in Nicholsville, Ky., and had lived in Topeka, Kan., in his early childhood. He moved to Argentine, Kan., where he graduated in 1912 from Argentine High School with honors. He attended Kansas City Junior College in pursuit of a journalism career. 

He worked as a reporter for the Kansas City Star. He joined the Argentine Baptist Church in 1913. He then accepted a position as assistant secretary of the YMCA in Argentine. In 1915 he became licensed to preach and entered the Kansas City Baptist Theological Seminary. 

In 1916, he served as student pastor at the Wolcott (Mo.) Baptist Church. In 1917, he was ordained by the Wolcott church and was correspondent for the Baptist Denominational papers. He graduated from the seminary in 1918 with honors and accepted the call from the Maywood Baptist Church, Independence. 

He married Bertha 'Smiles' Hunter on July 25, 1920. While at Maywood, he was secretary/treasurer of the Baptist Ministerial Alliance, chairman of several committees of the Southern Baptist Convention, president of the Englewood-Maywood Im-provement Association, was a regular contributor to all the church and secular papers and was known as 'The Children's Preacher' for his story and object sermons and chalk talks. In 1933 he was called to the Bales Baptist Church in downtown Kansas City. 

His book, 'A Church at Work,' on principles of church administration and leadership was published in 1936. The Doctor of Divinity degree was conferred on him by the Western Baptist Seminary in 1953. He was president of the Missouri Baptist Minister's Association and was Missouri Representative on the Southern Baptist Convention Radio and TV commission. 

He also served on the Kansas City Ministerial Alliances' Board, on the Board of Governor & Executive committee, Citizens Association, Kansas City, on the Board of Trustees of the College of Osteopathy and Surgery, Board of Trustees of Lakeside Hospital, and on the executive board of the Missouri Baptist General Association for many years. 

He served the Armour Heights Baptist Church in south Kansas City in 1959 and moved to Orlando, Fla., in 1961. In Florida, he served the Florida Shores Baptist Church and was active in the Wekiwa Baptist Association. He was elected pastor emeritus of the Bales Church in Kansas City in 1965. He moved to Bradenton, Fla., in 1967 and later served as interim pastor at the West Bradenton Baptist Church. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Bertha 'Smiles' Hause on Feb. 12, 1988. They had four children, Truett Alvin Hause, David George Hause, Dwight Hunter Hause and Lois Elaine Hause. Alvin G. Hause is survived by three children, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Burial will be Thursday in Bradenton.

LEE F. PETERS 

Lee F. Peters, 85, Blue Springs, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999 at St. Mary's Manor. 

Mr. Peters was a member of the Pleasant Grove Bible Church and Odd Fellows Lodge No. 497, Blue Springs. He was a retired welder with Butler Manufacturing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Juanita Peters, in 1995. 

He is survived by his sister, Velma Mullins, Boise, Idaho, and 12 nieces and nephews.

Gerald A. 'Jerry' Bean, 66, Independence, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, at the Medical Center of Independence. 

Mr. Bean was born Sept. 20, 1933, and was a lifelong Independence resident. He was a senior appraiser for the Jackson County Assessment Department for 10 years, retiring in 1996. Earlier, he had worked as an independent truck driver for 15 years, was an adjuster for Continental Insurance for 15 years, and worked for the Jackson County Sheriff's Department for seven years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean era. 

His survivors include his wife, Sue Bean of the home; two sons, Jerry Ray Bean and Danny Martin Bean, both of Independence; two brothers, Earl Bean, Independence, and Donald Bean, Scottsville, Texas; two sisters, Georgia M. Boone, Gladstone, Mo., and Roberta 'Bert' Maupin-Mason, Independence; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Joseph F. Angotti Sr., 67, Independence, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, at his home. 

Mr. Angotti was born April 17, 1932, in Kansas City. He worked in the finance industry with the Household Finance Corp., American Bank and the First National Bank of Olathe, Kan., retiring after more than 40 years of service. He was sergeant in the U.S. Amy, and was a graduate of Glennon High School and Rockhurst College. He was an active member and officer of St. Mark's Catholic Church for more than 30 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 43 years, Mary L. Angotti. 

His survivors include his wife of three years, Lorraine Angotti and her family; his children, David and Deborah Angotti, Kansas City, Kathleen Angotti, Blue Springs, Joseph Angotti Jr. and wife, Michelle, Lee's Summit, and Robert Angotti and Michelle Lelwica, both of Berkley, Calif.; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Tom Angotti Jr., Independence, and Vincent Angotti, Evansville, Ind.; and a sister, Christine Hoffman, Shawnee, Kan.

ROBERT L. HARTSELL 

Robert Leon Hartsell, 59, Clinton, Mo., formerly of Independence, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, at the University of Kansas Medical Center. 

Mr. Hartsell was born in Foster, Mo., and had lived in the Kansas City/ Independence, area for more than 35 years before moving to Clinton approximately four years ago. He had been a tractor trailer driver for the Leeds General Motors Plant until retiring in 1990 after 30 years of service. He also worked for Little Robert's Auto Salvage delivering parts as a yard man. 

His survivors include his wife, Barbara Ann Hartsell of the home; two daughters, Pamela Sue Roberts, Weaubleau, Mo., and Tonya Michelle Sawtell, Independence; sons, Robert Duane Hartsell, Timothy Micah Hartsell and Jeffrey Wayne Hartsell, all of Independence; two sisters, Clara Belle Martin, Osceola, Mo., and Blanche Chamberlain, East Lynn, Mo.; two brothers, Kenny Hartsell, Jerico Springs, Mo., and Leroy Hartsell, Archie, Mo.; and nine grandchildren.

Ralph C. Stogsdill, 87, Independence, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at his home. 

Mr. Stogsdill was born Sept. 4, 1912, in Cabool, Mo. He worked for Cook Paints in North Kansas City for 15 years, retiring in 1977 as a stationary engineer. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Firemen and Oilers Local 1, and the Lake View Baptist Church, Warsaw, Mo. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Kevin Thomas Stogsdill and Kimberly Dawn Stogsdill.

Evelyn Louise Curtis Prosser, 68, Lee's Summit, formerly of Independence, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at her home. 

Mrs. Prosser was born April 28, 1931, in Independence. She was a lifelong, dedicated member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, having served as an elder since 1987.
