BRYAN T. PASLEY 

Bryan T. Pasley, 15, Independence, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999. 

Bryan was born Jan. 6, 1984, in Kansas City and was a lifelong area resident. He was a sophomore at William Chrisman High School. Since the age of 7, he wrestled, winning two national titles in 1997, while he was a student at Lathrop Middle School, Lathrop, Mo. 

His survivors include his parents, Dale and Karen Pasley; a stepbrother, Robert Ritter; his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Nichols; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. 

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the McGilley Midtown Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Bryan Pasley memorial fund in care of Mercantile Bank.

TRUMAN P. STAUFFER SR. 

Professor Emeritus Truman P. Stauffer Sr., 80, Blue Springs, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs. 

Mr. Stauffer was born May 29, 1919, in Illmo, Mo., and had lived in this area for more than 40 years. He was a Pentecostal minister for more than 20 years, first in Cairo, Ill., and then in the Kansas City area. He received his teaching certificate in 1961, and taught in the Fort Osage School District from 1961 to 1968. 

He received his master's degree in 1964 from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and his Ph.D. in 1974 from the University of Nebraska. He was head of the Geoscience Department at UMKC from 1971 to 1984. He became an assistant professor in 1972, and an associate professor in 1974. In 1979, he became a full professor of Geosciences, and in 1985, he received the title of professor emeritus at UMKC. 

He was a well-known leading authority on underground space utilization and had many books published on the subject. He served many hours over a 10-year period as a volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs. He was preceded in death by a son, Truman P. Stauffer Jr. 

His survivors include his wife, Lillie V. Stauffer, Blue Springs; three grandsons, Ray Rennock, Kansas City, and Zane Stauffer and Jason Stauffer, both of Blue Springs; and three great-grandchildren. 

Services were Monday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Blue Springs Chapel. Burial was in Blue Springs Cemetery.

JESSE MURRAY 

Jesse Murray, 71, Kansas City, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs. 

Mr. Murray was born April 6, 1920, in Powerville, Mo. He retired from the Butler Manufacturing Co. after 38 years of service. 

His survivors include his wife, Barbara Murray of the home; two sons, Ronnie Murray, Lee's Summit, and Bobby Murray, Belton, Mo.; 12 brothers and sisters, Mina Trumper, Corydon, Iowa, Billy Murray, Peoria, Ariz., Mae Baker, Pleasant Hill, Iowa, John Murray, Griffin, Ga., Betty Eagle, Ottumwa, Iowa, Gene Murray, Indianola, Iowa, Mary Brown, Orange Park, Fla., Theodore Murray, McDonugh, Ga., Barbara Baldus, Buckner, Tommy Murray, Woodland, Tenn., Waneta Bruntmeyer, Independence, and Jimmy Murray, Decator, Ill.; four stepsons, Rick Hammond, Santa Barbara, Calif., Richard Hammond, Independence, Ronnie Hammond, Kansas City, and Randy Hammond of the home; a stepdaughter, Rita Neselroad, Lawson, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. 

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Sheil Independence Avenue Chapel, Kansas City. Burial will be in Mount Washington Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.

RAYMOND A. HENDRIX JR. 

Raymond A. Hendrix Jr., 77, Kansas City, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, at Baptist Medical Center. 

Mr. Hendrix was born Dec. 2, 1922, in Wheeling, Mo. He retired from Armco Steel after 40 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and Sheffield Masonic Lodge 625. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II. His wife, Eudora J. Hendrix, died in 1989. 

His survivors include one daughter, Jean R. Brooks, Lee's Summit; one son, Ronald R. Hendrix, Overland Park, Kan.; four grandchildren; and a special friend, Violet Salyer. 

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wheeling Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.

VESTA M. McENTYRE 

Vesta M. McEntyre, 82, Blue Springs, formerly of Independence, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, at the Blue Springs Care Center. 

Mrs. McEntyre was born May 31, 1917, in Keytesville, Mo. She had been a sales clerk for Woolworth's. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert McEntyre in 1979, and a daughter, Wanda in 1967. 

Her survivors include two sons, Gene McEntyre and Perry McEntyre, both of Independence; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. 

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Washington Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to your favorite charity.

DONALD O. PAGE 

Donald O. Page, 67, Gallatin, Mo., died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, at the Heartland Medical Center in St. Joseph, Mo. 

Mr. Page was born Sept. 2, 1932, in Hilandville, Mo., and lived in this area from 1948 until moving to Gallatin in 1990. He was retired from the Kansas City Stock Exchange. He was a member of the East Independence Church of Christ. His wife, Betty Lou Page, died in August 1997. 

His survivors include two stepdaughters, Kathy Knapp, Winston, Mo., and Susie Cameron, Cameron, Mo.; two sisters, Emma Mayberry, Gallatin, and Betty Griffith, Independence; one brother, Robert Page, Springfield, Mo.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. 

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hope-Eldringhoff Funeral Home, Gallatin. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery, Gallatin. Friends may call from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

ROY W. CLARK 

Roy William Clark, 85, Blue Springs, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs. 

Mr. Clark was born June 29, 1914, in Center Addition, Kan. He had been a farmer. He was a member of the Plaza Heights Baptist Church of Blue Springs. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in General Patton's Third Army. He was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge, and received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence Clark, a daughter, Edith Pearl Clark, and an infant son. 

His survivors include his wife, Loretta Clark, Blue Springs; and two brothers, Richard A. Clark, Glendale, Calif., and Jack Clark, Pierre, S.D. 

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Webb-Freer Funeral Home, Blue Springs. Burial will be in Blue Springs Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

EDWARD L. SUTHERLIN 

Edward Lee Sutherlin, 72, Lee's Summit, died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, at his home. 

Mr. Suther-lin was born Oct. 9, 1927, in Mount Wa-shington, Mo. He attended Bristol Grade School, Northeast High School, and received a bachelor's degree in business from Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg. He retired as president in 1991 from Sutherlin Optical Co., where he worked for 45 years. 

He was past president of the National Optical Laboratories Association, was past president and co-founder of Light Benders Optical Group, was Missouri Optical Laboratories Association 'Man of the Year' in 1999, as well as the Association's executive secretary. He was past president of the Northeast Alumni Association and served on its scholarship committee. 

He was very active in volunteering his optical services to mankind, bringing eye care to people in underdeveloped countries. He was member of Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, and a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He was the Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 178, was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, and received the St. George Award. 

His survivors include his wife, Madeline VanderFeltz Sutherlin of the home; his children and their spouses, Steve Sutherlin,Overland Park, Kan., Mike and Maureen Sutherlin, Kansas City, Laura and Randy Koons, Lee's Summit, John and Pam Sutherlin, and Janet and Vincent Wagner, all of Kansas City; one sister, Louise Benson; and his grandchildren, Charlie, Andy, Mary, Ben, John, Christopher and Eric Sutherlin, Brett and Jeffrey Koons, and Vince, Theresa and Nathan Wagner. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at church. Entombment at Mount Olivet Mausoleum will be private. MARTHA L. KNIGHT 

Martha L. Knight, 88, Baldwin, Kan., formerly of Independence, died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, at the Baldwin Care Center. 

Mrs. Knight was born Oct. 12, 1911, in DeWitt, Neb., and lived in Hermitage, Mo., for 20 years before moving to Baldwin a 1 1/2 ago. She was a former member of Rockwood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Knight, and a son, Donald Keil. 

Her survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene and Patricia Keil, Harrisonville, Mo., and Fred and Betty Keil, Independence; a daughter and son-in-law, Rowena and Lloyd Lacer, Wellsville, Kan.; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. 

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Carson Blue Ridge Boulevard Funeral Home, Kansas City. Burial will be in Springfield (Mo.) National Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

PAUL B. TRUITT 

Paul Bruce Truitt, 43, Independence, died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, at his home. 

Mr. Truitt was born Aug. 23, 1956, in Elizabethtown, Ky., and had lived in this area for 15 years. He had worked in maintenance for Independence Power & Light for 12 years. He was a member of the Disciples of Jesus Ministries and the Promise Keepers. 

His survivors include his wife, Susan Truitt of the home; two sons, Shawn Truitt and Mike Truitt, two daughters, Monica Truitt and Sarah Truitt, three brothers, Kevin Truitt, Roger Truitt and Dale Truitt, and one sister, Karen Burke, all of Louisville, Ky.

IDA M. LIMPUS 

Ida May Limpus, 89, Blue Springs, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at her home. 

Mrs. Limpus was born Jan. 24, 1910, in Council Grove, Kan. He owned and operated a beauty salon before she retired. She was a Navy Medical Corps veteran of World War II. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norris C. Limpus in 1998, and two stepchildren, L.D. Limpus and Beverly L. Mejia. 

Her survivors include a brother, William A. Searight and wife, Jane, Anaheim, Calif.; a sister-in-law, June Limpus, Harrisonville, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Richard Austin Cullen, 83, Belton, Mo., died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at the Beautiful Savior Nursing Home, Belton, Mo.. 

Mr. Cullen was born Dec. 18, 1916, in Lincoln, Neb. He retired as a sales manager for Woolf Brothers after 37 years of service.

Ica E. 'Jackie' Ruberson, 75, Independence, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center. 

Mrs. Ruberson was born Jan. 17, 1924, in Laredo, Mo. Her husband, Whitey Ruberson, died in 1996. 

Her survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Charles L. and Ruby J. Goins, Independence; one niece, Sue McMilian and husband, Brent, Blue Springs; three nephews, Jim Goins and wife, Sandy, and Joe Goins, all of Independence, and Richard Goins and wife, Kelly, Lee's Summit; five great-nieces; and one great-nephew.

Hazel E. Vogel, 93, Independence, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at the Independence Health Care Center. 

Mrs. Vogel was born July 24, 1906, in Kansas City. She enjoyed bowling. Her husband, Ernest Vogel, died in March 1992.

KIM 'CHARLY' WRIGHT 

Kim 'Charly' Wright of Independence died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center. 

Mr. Wright was born Sept. 2, 1961, in Elkland, Mo., and was a lifelong Independence area resident. He was an assistant manager at Pitney Bowes for many years. 

His survivors include his wife, JoAnne Wright, and two children, Chuck and Crystal Wright, all of the home; his mother, Reta Wright, Kansas City; and many other relatives.

VIOLA H. STEARS 

Viola H. Stears, 81, Independence, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at the Medical Center of Independence. 

Mrs. Stears was born Dec. 31, 1917, in Independence. She retired from the F.W. Woolworth Co. after 43 years of service. She was a committee member of the William Chrisman High School class of 1935, and attended Kansas City College of Commerce. 

Her survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, James C. and Jean A. Stears, Monrovia, Calif.; one sister, Edna Mae Gutridge, Independence; three grandchildren, Felicia E. Stears, Monrovia, and Kimber A. Chelsey and Summer Stears, both of Phoenix; and two great-grandchildren.

DEVIANA 'DOLLY' THOMPSON 

Deviana 'Dolly' Thompson, 75, Independence, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at the Life Care Center of Grandview. 

Mrs. Thompson was born Feb. 13, 1924, in Kansas City and had lived in this area most of her life. She had been a sample maker for Slimmaker Garment Co. for 30 years, retiring in the late 1970s, and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She was a member of Pebble Creek Assembly of God. 

Her survivors include her husband, Perry Thompson of the home; one brother, Carmelo Calabrese, North Carolina; two sisters, Mary Linder, Raytown, and Ruth Calabrese, Independence; and several nieces and nephews. 

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the church, 13800 E. 51st St., Kansas City, Mo. 64133.

JENIENE M. CARTER 

Jeniene M. Carter, 69, Independence, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at her home. 

Mrs. Carter was born July 22, 1930, in Needmore, Pa., and lived in Needmore, Baltimore, Md., and in Kansas City before moving to the Independence area. She worked for the Olin Corp. for 19 years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Independence. 

Her survivors include her husband of 22 years, Glenn Carter of the home; two sons, Alan Creek, Knob Noster, Mo., and Bradford Creek, Blue Springs; five daughters, Adona Short, West Jordan, Utah, Shirley Heslop, Roy, Utah, Renee Creswell, Liberty, Mo., Jeannie Slayton, Independence, and Melanie Terry, Provo, Utah; a stepson, Galen Carter, Clinton, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Ileene McQuitty, Chilhowee, Mo.; 44 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. 

Services were today at the LDS Independence Stake Center. Burial was in New Salem Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Missionary Fund at the Church. Arrangements were under the direction of New Salem Funeral Home.

FRED REDFORD JR. 

Fred Redford Jr., 84, Independence, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at Wilshire at Lakewood Nursing Home, Lee's Summit. 

Mr. Redford was born Dec. 1, 1915, in Independence, and was a lifelong Independence area resident. He was self-employed as an agricultural equipment operator. He was member a of the Independence Gem and Mineral Society, and the Abiding Savior Lutheran Church. 

His survivors include his wife, Eileen Redford, Lee's Summit; his son, Donald Redford, who survived him by one day, passing away on Dec. 23; and many nieces and nephews. 

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the church.

Jeniene M. Carter, 69, Independence, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999 in her home. 

Mrs. Carter was born July 22, 1930, in Needmore, Pa. and had lived in Independence since 1958. She worked for Olin Corp. for 19 years, retiring in 1992. 

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Independence. 

She is survived by her husband, Glen Carter, of the home; son Alan Creek, Knob Noster, Mo., and Bradord Creek, Blue Springs; daughters Adona Creek, West Jordan, Utah; Renee Creswell, Liberty, Mo.; Melanie Terry, Provo, Utah; and Shirley Heslop, Roy, Utah; stepson Galen Carter, Clinton, Mo., and stepdaughter Ileene McQuitty, Chilhowee, Mo.; 44 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday in the LDS Independence Stake Center. Burial will follow in New Salem Cemetery in Independence. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday in the New Salem Funeral Home, Independence. 

The family requests contributions to the Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in lieu of flowers.
