ONA F. BRICKEY 

Ona Fay Brown Brickey, 64, Lone Jack, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 1997, at the home of her daughter in Greenwood, Mo. 

Mrs. Brickey was born May 27, 1933, in Greenwood, Mo., and had lived in Lone Jack since 1950. She recently returned to Greenwood. She was a member of the World Wide Church of God in Kansas City. She played the guitar, and when she was younger, she and her twin, who played the mandolin and were known as the Brown Twins, played locally at churches, schools and pie suppers. In their early teens they sang and played on KIMO in Independence, and later entertained on WHB on the Cowtown Jamboree. She was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Brickley II on March 14, 1986. 

Her survivors include seven children,Shirleen Herrick, Windsor, Mo., Lanora Campbell, Springfield, Mo., Shannon Thomas, Danville, Ind., John S. Brickey III, Walter Brickey, Mounds, Okla., Marilyn Sturgeon, Greenwood, and Willis Keith Brickey, Pleasant Hill, Mo.; three brothers, Eugene Brown and Merle Keith Brown, both of Lone Jack, and Kenion R. Brown, Kingsville, Mo.; two sisters, Lanora McKay, Holden, Mo., and her twin sister, Nona May Van Os, Hannibal, Mo.; 22 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. 

Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery, Oak Grove. Friends may call from 6 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

IDA E. DENNING 

Ida E. Denning, 71, Independence, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 1997, at the Columbia Independence Regional Health Center. 

Miss Denning was born July 12, 1926, in Victoria, Kan., and had lived in Independence for 20 years. She was a sales representative for the Gas Service Co. for 28 years. She was a member of St. Mary`s Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society at the church, and the Siena Club. 

Her survivors include six brothers, Carroll Denning, Shawnee Mission, Kan., Art Denning and Dennis Denning, both of Salina, Kan., Max Denning, Hays, Kan., Ralph Denning, Russell, Kan., and Ad Denning, Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Armella Rusler, Hays; and 42 nieces and nephews. 

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kan. Friends may call from 7 to 9 tonight at the George C. GARLAND DILLON 

Garland Dillon, 78, Pleasant Hill, Mo., died Sunday, Oct. 26, 1997, at St. Luke`s Hospital in Kansas City. 

Mr. Dillon was born June 12, 1919, near Strasburg, Mo., and had lived in the Pleasant Hill and Strasburg areas most of his life. He was a well-known area stockman and a graduate of the old Strasburg High School. He was an elder and Sunday school teacher in the Strasburg Union Church, president of the Strasburg Cemetery Association, and on the Cass County Zoning Commission. 

His survivors include his wife, Marjorie E. McMillan Dillon of the home; a son, Larry Dillon, Oak Grove; a daughter, Judy Vanderpool, Blue Springs; a sister, Arlene Gandy, Independence; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. 

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Stanley & Son Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill. Burial will be in Strasburg Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral Home. The family suggests contributions to the Strasburg Cemetery Association or the church.

Landie Lee Oliver, 38, Kansas City, formerly of Independence, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 1997, at his home. 

Mr. Oliver was born March 22, 1959, in Independence. He attended Fort Osage High School and was a Navy veteran. His survivors include his parents, Orlando E. Oliver and Joan Casey Oliver of Woodridge, Ill.; one daughter, Miranda J. Oliver, Blue Springs; one sister, Vicki A. Workman, Blue Springs; one brother, Randie R. Oliver, Kansas City; his maternal grandparents, Mary Casey, Blue Springs, and Tom and Edie Casey, Independence; and several nieces and nephews.

ELLA O. PAGE 

Ella Opal Page, 93, Stockton, Mo., formerly of Independence, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 1997, at the Stockton Nursing Home. 

Mrs. Page was born Oct. 8, 1904, in Marceline, Mo., and lived in Brookings, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Richmond, Mo., before moving to Independence. She had lived in California before returning to Independence in the 1970s. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and the White Masque Players, serving in numerous offices, including production manager and president. She and her husband, W. Earl "Barney" Page, wrote and directed the 1935 Easter morning pageant at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Kansas City, and continued to direct the pageant for nine more years. She participated in all church sponsored radio dramas on KMBC. She created puppets, and began using puppetry in worship and teaching, and also wrote and directed many presentations for puppetry. She was preceded in death by her husband. 

Her survivors include one sister, Dora S. Cox, Stockton; one niece, Betty Morgansen, Bates City; two nephews, Jean E. Cox, Stockton, Mo., and Kenneth E. Williams, Kansas City; grandnieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews. 

Services will be 11 a.m Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home, Buckner. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the Columbia Independence Regional Health Center Hospice.

WILLARD S. PHELPS 

Willard Stanley Phelps, 89, Independence, died Friday, Oct. 24, 1997, at Rosewood Health Center. 

Mr. Phelps was born Jan. 6, 1908, at Mayville, Mich. He was a terminal manager for the Maiers Motor Freight Co. in Vassar, Mich., for 33 years, retiring in 1968. He was a Mason and a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was preceded in death by his wife Bertha. 

His survivors include three daughters, Carol Ann Haller, New Jersey, Joanne Murphy, Kansas, and Mary Ann Evans, Texas; and seven grandchildren.

NAOMI R. RUSSELL 

Naomi Ruth Russell, 76, Osage Beach, Mo., formerly of Independence, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 1997, at Osage Beach Health Center. 

Mrs. Russell was born March 18, 1921, in Chilhowee,Mo. She was the editor of Herald House Publishing for 44 years. She was a member of the Oak Hill RLDS congregation. She was preceded in death by a daughter,LaVeta June Anderson. 

Her survivors include her husband, Orrin Russell of the home; a son, Roderick S. Russell, Lake Ozark, Mo.; a brother, Walter Schwensen, Overland Park, Kan.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five nephews; and one niece.

RAYMOND E. WHITE Jr. 

Raymond Earl White Jr., 50, Apple Valley, Calif., died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997, at St. Mary`s Regional Medical Center. 

Mr. White was born Oct. 4, 1947, in Kansas City, and lived in Sarcoxie and Joplin in Missouri before moving to California in 1985. He was a diesel mechanic for Cummins Diesel for eight years and for Yellow Freight for 19 years. He was a graduate of Joplin High School, an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, and a member of the Baptist faith. 

His survivors include his wife, Linda White, and a daughter, Rebecca Sue White, both of the home; two stepsons, Patrick Denner, Hampton, Va., and Richard Allen Denner, Springfield, Mo.; three brothers, Jay White, George White, and Charles White, all of Joplin; three sisters, Pat Likely, Independence, Eileene Taber, Joplin, and Mary Pollack, DeSota, Kan.; and one grandson, Ryan Denner.

JAMES "JIM"ALLEN 

James Manning "Jim" Allen, 59, Independence, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, at the V.A. Medical Center. 

Mr. Allen was born Nov. 21, 1937, in Kansas City, Kan., and had lived in the Kansas City area most of his life. He had also lived in Europe for a total of 12 years. He entered military service in 1956,and during his career, he served two combat tours of duty in Vietnam during 1965 and 1969, and was an Army sergeant. He was awarded two Bronze Star medals, Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal with four battle stars, Meritorious Service Medal, Foreign Expeditionary Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and nine other military awards. He attended Northeast High School. 

His survivors include two sons, Charles A. Allen, West Columbia, S.C., and Paul M. Allen, Independence; his mother, Dorothy L. Cox, and a sister, Carolyn S. Laster, both of Oak Grove. 

Services were Sunday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel; cremation.

Michael Dean Beall, 39, Kansas City, formerly of Independence, died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997.

IRENE B. BROMLEY 

Irene B. Bromley, 77, Kansas City, formerly of Independence, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 1997, at Bishop Spencer Place. 

Mrs. Bromley was born Aug. 27, 1920, in Maysville, Mo., and had lived in Independence since 1950. She moved to Kansas City last year. She was an executive secretary for the Marsh McClenon Co. for 10 years, retiring in1984. Earlier, she worked for Anderson & Love law firm in Independence for several years, and the Spencer Chemical Co. for 15 years until 1967. She was a member of the Sycamore Hills Baptist Church and was a volunteer with Columbia Independence Regional Health Center for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Bromley in 1967. 

Her survivors include a son, Michael R. Bromley, Bates City; a daughter, Suzanne Fine, Lee`s Summit; a sister, Wava LeFler, Kirksville, Mo.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

LINDSEY J. CRANE 

Lindsey J. Crane, 78, Independence, died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997, at his home. 

Mr. Crane was born Feb. 19, 1919, in Beltona, Ala., and lived in North Kansas City before moving to Independence in 1990. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Crane in 1988.

LARRY G. DOWELL 

Larry Gene Dowell, 48, Sugar Creek, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 1997, at his home. 

Mr. Dowell was born Sept. 30, 1948, inGrain Valley, and was a lifelong Independence area resident. He worked on the assembly line for General Motors, retiring in 1976, and was a member of the United Auto Workers. He was a Navy Seabees veteran of the Vietnam War, and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9638, Wheatland, Mo. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Expert Rifleman Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon. 

His survivors include his wife, Gloria Dowell of the home; two daughters, Christal Dowell of the home, and Geneva Branson, Independence; his parents, Robert and Mary Dowell, Lexington, Mo.; and two sisters, Martha Cobb, Joliet, Ill., and Anita Haynes, Lexington.

REVA EDSON 

Reva Givan Edson, 90, Independence, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 1997, at Columbia Independence Regional Health Center. 

Mrs. Edson was born Dec. 13, 1906, in Kansas City, and was raised in Fairmont. She had lived at the Groves Nursing Home for the last two years. She attended Northeast High School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Seekers Class, and the P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter IQ, and was a charter member of the Independence Study Club. She retired from the Jackson County assessor`s office in 1979. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 55 years, Vernon F. Givan, who was the owner of Polly`s Pop Inc., and by her second husband, William Edson in 1994. 

Her survivors include a son, Kenneth R. Givan, Raytown; a brother, Orwyn Foster, Thousand Oaks, Calif.; three grandchildren, Steven Givan, Jeffrey Givan and Laura Lee Koch; and three great-grandchildren.

DOROTHY I. "TOOTSIE" FOSTER 

Dorothy Isabelle "Tootsie" Foster, 87, Independence, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 1997, at the Golden Years Nursing Home, Harrisonville, Mo. 

Mrs. Foster was born Feb. 1, 1910, in El Dorado Springs, Mo. She retired from Montgomery Wards Rug Pool in 1975 after 224 years of service. She was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 1000 Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded by her husband, John William "Johnnie" Foster in 1964.

CHARLES E. NAPIER 

Charles E. Napier, 84, Grain Valley, died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997, at St. Mary`s Hospital of Blue Springs. 

Mr. Napier was born in Grange, Scotland, and lived in the area since 1922. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Grain Valley Historical Society, and the American Shorthorn Association, and was president of the Missouri School Bus Contractor`s Association. He was a Fort Osage Athletic Pioneer Hall of Fame honoree and active as a 4-H leader from 1955 to 1964,serving as fairboard chairman and county council president. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Napier in 1988. 

His survivors include a son, Charles A. Napier, Gainesville, Fla.; a daughter, Marcia Napier; a sister, Isabelle N. Clark, Blue Springs; and two grandchildren, James Napier and Millicent Napier.

Myrtle Florence Netter, 83, Independence, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 1997, at Rosewood Health Care Center. 

Mrs. Netter was born Jan. 26, 1914, in Independence and was a lifelong area resident. She was a homemaker, and was involved in the PTA, the Laurel Club. She was a member of the Walnut Park RLDS congregation.

TANNER A. RANEY 

Tanner Austin Raney, four-month-old son of Allen and Ginny Raney of Blue Springs, died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997, at the Medical Center of Independence. 

Tanner was born May 21, 1997, in Independence. 

His survivors also include a brother, Cody Raney of the home; paternal grandparents, Bob and Roberta Hunsperger, Blue Springs, and Jack Raney, Tucson, Ariz.; maternal grandparents, Wade and Gloria LaDue, Blue Springs; paternal great-grandparents, Iris and Walter Dougherty, Independence; maternal great-grandparents, Hugh and Virginia Warren, Oxford, Miss; four aunts, Vicki Kinser, Jackie Gifford, Becky Koontz and Sandy Jones; and two uncles, Major Paul LaDue and Michael LaDue.
