LELLOUS H. "LUCKY" DILLS 

Lellous H. "Lucky" Dills, 70, Kansas City, died Friday, Dec. 18, 1998, at his home. 

Mr. Dills was born March 29, 1928, in Alton, Mo., and was a lifelong Kansas City resident. He worked for Kulmans Diecasting for 22 years. He had also worked at the Muehlebach Hotel, and was self-employed with Eastside Upholstering. He retired from the Alameda Plaza Hotel in 1993. 

His survivors include his wife, Bonnie Dills of the home; five children, Ronald Dills, Kingsville, Brenda Dujakovich, Joyce Britt and Richard Dills, all of Independence, and Kevin Dills, Kansas City; his mother, Myrtle Dills, Independence; one sister, Shirley Swendener, Rowland Heights, Calif.; eight grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. 

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel.

DALE L. FYFE 

Dale Lee Fyfe, 69, Independence, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998, at his home. 

Mr. Fyfe was born Oct. 28, 1929, in Altoona, Kan., and lived in Kansas City, Kan., until moving to Independence in 1970. He worked for Signal Delivery in Kansas City for several years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1949 to 1952. 

His survivors include his wife of 45 years, Dorothy Fyfe of the home; one son, Daniel Fyfe, Independence; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Alice and Terry Nicolosi, Fort Atkinson, Wis.; two sisters, Mary Miller, Wichita, Kan., and Marge Carlson, Kansas City, Kan.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the New Salem Funeral Home. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel.

FRANCES E. KING 

Frances Elizabeth King, 85, Blue Springs, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998, at St. Mary`s Manor in Blue Springs. 

Mrs. King was born Oct. 14, 1913, in Marshall, Mo., and had lived in Marshall and the Kansas City area all of her life. She was a graduate of Marshall (Mo.) High School. She had worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Kansas City. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Garden Club, Royal Neighbors, DAR and the Order of the Eastern Star. She had also worked in several community activities. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marshall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow King. 

Her survivors include two sons, Jack R. King, Blue Springs, and Bob King, Raytown; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. 

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Marshall. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery, Marshall. Friends may call from 7 to 8 tonight at the Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home.

BILLY B. WILLIS 

Billy Bob Willis, 67, Independence, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998, in Osawatomie, Kan. 

Mr. Willis was born Jan. 26, 1931, in Manchester, Tenn., and moved to Independence in 1967. He was a combine design engineer and manager for Allis Chalmers for more than 30 years, and was currently a code enforcement officer for Jackson County. He was a 1949 graduate of Central High School, Manchester, and received a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Tennessee. He served the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and was stationed at Cape Canaveral. He was an avid farmer and hunter, ane owned the B bar W, a cattle ranch in Osawatomie, for 20 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ, and had been an active member of the Jaycee's. 

His survivors include four children, Cathy Towles, Atlanta, Cynthia Taylor, Nashville, Tenn., Connie Cooper, Memphis, Tenn., and Michael Willis, San Francisco; two stepdaughters, Denise Shockley, Chicago, and Shauna Snyder, Germany; one sister, Mary Grace Mooney, Overland Park, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren. 

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Floral Hills East Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation International, 6701 W. 64th St., Shawnee Mission, Kan. 66202.

FRANCES L. WILKINSON 

Frances Louise Wilkinson, 74, Oak Grove, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998, at Park Lane Medical Center in Kansas City. 

Mrs. Wilkinson was born April 14, 1924, in Grain Valley and had lived in Oak Grove for the past 55 years. She worked for the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant for 40 years, retiring in 1989. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Wilkinson in 1994, and a daughter-in-law, Janice Wilkinson in 1995. 

Her survivors include one son, Larry E. Wilkinson, Bates City; two sisters, Elva Wakeman and Berniece Smith, both of Odessa; two brothers, Don Halsey, Oak Grove, and Joe Halsey, Odessa; grandchildren, Larry E. Wilkinson Jr. and Jill Wilkinson, and Joseph M. and Debra Wilkinson; and three great-grandchildren, Austin, Katlyn and Andrew.

Mary Alice Conklin, 73, Newton, Iowa, died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, at her home. 

Mrs. Conklin was born March 28, 1925, in Fairfield, Iowa, and had lived in Runnells, Sandyville and Swan in Iowa. She was a homemaker, and had worked for Vernon County Mattingly Music, Van's Health Food Store, and the Newton School District. She was a graduate of Runnells High School and a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Warren Conklin Sr. 

Her survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill W. Conklin Jr. and Stephanie Clement, Newton, and Dale D. and Kim Conklin, Storm Lake, Iowa; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Anne and Barry Boren, Independence; one brother, Arthur Meader, Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters, Gladys Ohnemus, Newton, Dorothy Miller, Independence, and Nadine Losee, New Virginia, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

CARRIE M. MAGEL 

Carrie M. Magel, 85, Independence, died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, at the Rosewood Health Center. 

Mrs. Magel was born Jan. 16, 1913, in Story City, Iowa. She had worked for Peterson Manufacturing Co. for 19 years, and was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark C. Magel Sr. in 1955, and one son, Jacob Magel in 1945. 

Her survivors include three sons, Mark C. Magel, Independence, David A. Magel, Federal Way, Wash., and Michael L. Magel, Kansas City; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Shirley C. Myers, 64, Kansas City, died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, at her home.

STEVEN R. HARGUS 

Steven Ray Hargus, 45, Independence, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998. 

Mr. Hargus was born Sept. 30, 1953, in Independence. He had worked for the GM Fairfax Assembly Plant for the past 22 years. He was a 1971 graduate of Truman High School and attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City, was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-say and the First Christian Church of Independence. 

His survivors include his parents, Loren and Patricia Hargus Jr.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen and Jim Ingram, and Nancy and John Ryan; and three nephews, Chris and Josh Ingram, and Sean Ryan.

Peggy "Edith" McDowell, 82, Independence, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998, at Research Medical Center. 
Mrs. McDowell was born Dec. 24, 1915, in Kansas City and had lived in this area most of her life. Her husband, Lester McDowell, died in 1994. 

Her survivors include one son, Tony George, and one daughter, Kathy Hoskins, both of Independence; one brother, James Boswell, Blue Springs; one sister, Kay Calas, Torrance, Calif.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

ELDON M. MORRIS 

Eldon Martin Morris, 86, Mountain Home, Ark., formerly of Independence, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998, at the Baxter County Regional Hospital, Mountain Home. 

Mr. Morris was born March 17, 1912, near Ava, Mo., and lived and farmed near Ava most of his life, moving to Independence in 1951. While in Independence, he worked as a carpenter until his retirement, and was a member of Carpenters Union Local 61. He was a member of the South Crysler Restoration Branch, and a former member of the Enoch Hill RLDS congregation for 30 years, serving in the priesthood office of elder. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Lillian Morris, one grandson, Eldon Lane Morris, and one son, Carl Morris. 

His survivors include his wife, Edna Ruckman Morris, Oak Grove; one son and daughter-in-law, Lane and Janice Morris, Independence; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rozema and Hal McKain, Lamoni, Iowa, and June and Carroll Mullins, Mountain Home; a daughter-in-law, Betty Morris, Ava; one brother, Hugh Morris, Leeton, Mo.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter. 

Also surviving are his wife Edna's sons, Ralph, Gary and Bruce Ruckman; her daughters, Mae Lasley, Nancy Lappert and Edna Rose Roddell; and their grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. 

Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Saturday at the South Crysler Restoration Branch, 16101 E. Salibury Road. Family members invite firends to join them for visiting and light refreshments at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the fellowship hall of the church. JACK G. MERRIOTT 

Jack G. Merriott, 72, Sugar Creek, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, at the Medical Center of Independence. 

Mr. Merriott was born Dec. 23, 1926, in Versailles, Mo. He worked in the maintenance department for the city of Sugar Creek for 23 years, retiring in 1986. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army and received the Army of Occupation Medal (Japan) and the Victory Medal.

Susanne Kay Hammer, 34, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, at the Liberty Hospital.

Jerry Markley, 77, Independence, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Carlton F. Pawsey, 90, Hamilton, Mo., died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, at a nursing home in Hamilton.

IRENE PINE 

Irene Pine, 85, Independence, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, at Independence Regional Health Center. 

Mrs. Pine was born Dec. 18, 1913, in Harper, Kan., and had lived in this area since 1933. Before retiring she had worked as a bookkeeper for The Adams Dairy, The Bordon Co., The Hiland Dairy and the Belfonte Ice Cream Co., for a total of 30 years. She was a member of Birchwood Baptist Church and had taught Sunday school for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Pine in 1982, and a son, Kenneth V. Voge Jr. in 1993. 

Her survivors include a son, Larry J. Voge, Independence; many grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. 

Services were today at Newcomer Floral Hills Chapel. Burial was in Floral Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her name to the building fund of Country Meadows Baptist Church, 4901 Lee's Summit Road, Independence, Mo. 64055.
