Lewis Cemetery

Section 17, Township 50, Range 31W

This early family burial ground is prominently located on a hillside about a quarter-mile S of Lewis Road, oposite the intersection with Union School Road. This is in Section 17, Township 50N, Range 31W. Now fenced 100 feet square and cared for by the Jackson County Historical Society, it is in good condition. Sometimes called the Lewis-Gregg Cemetery, it contains prominent members of both these families, notably Nathaniel Lewis, a veteran of the American Revolution, and Harmon Gregg, and early settler of the county.

According to the "History of Jackson County" by W. Z. Hickman (1920), the 1st wife of Noah Lentz and Eliza J. Lewis, and his second wife was Louise Kirby. The names within brackets are from the DAR reading in 1993, probably supplied from personal knowledge.
