Dobson (Surry County), NC. First woman licensed to practice law in North Carolina--a major accomplishment for a woman, in 1878.

Description:
 Unfortunately, Tabitha practiced law only eight years. She died at age 33 of Tuberculosis. Buried: Springfield Meeting House (Quaker) cemetery in Guilford County.

Location:Along the street, on the east side of the Surry County Court House. There is a marker for Stoneman's Raid, nearby. The coordinates will take you to another interesting object--a very old Benchmark mounted vertically in the southeast corner of the court house.
