John and Mary Adams were born in Virginia and lived in Patrick County.  Among their children was a son, Joshua Adams (Baptist minister) who was born 15 February 1791 and married Elizabeth Corn 18 December 1809.  They were the parents of thirteen children.  Their fifth child was Samuel Greene Adams who married Lucy Ann Barnard.  These two are buried in a private cemetery near Westfield, North Carolina.  Many of their descendants are still living in Surry County.

Samuel Greene Adams was born 10 October 1822, died 25 September 1898.  Lucy Ann Barnard was born 6 January 1824 and died 3 May 1889.  They were the parents of eleven children.  Their third child, Joshua Adams, born 25 June 1845 and died 25 December 1918.

Joshua was married to Jane Lowe who was born 4 September 1844 and died 27 November 1904.  Joshua and Jane had nine children.  They lived near Reddies River; Joshua farmed and ran a grist mill.  Like most folk in this period, the whole family shared in the work around the house and farm.

Joshua and Jane Adams are buried at Old Mulberry Church in Surry County, After Jane's death, Joshua married Belle Baker and had five children.

My mother Susan Jane (Jennie) Adams married John Minton Lowe, 27 September 1900 in Surry County.  They later moved to Wilkes County were my father taught school, moved back to Surry and later moved to Iredell County where both are buried in Oakwood Cemetery.
