William Scritchfield 250 Acres
State of N. Carolina. To all to whom these Presence shall come, Greeting.
Know yet that we for and in consideration of the Sum of fifty shilling for every Hundred Acres hereby granted paid into our Treasury by William Scritchfield have given and granted and by these Presents for give and grant unto the said William Scritchfield a Tract of Land containing two Hundred and fifty acres lying and being in our County of Surry on the South side of the Yadkin.
Beginning at a White Oak on the Bank of Hogin’s Creek near the meeting house, running thence South thirty three Degrees West crossing sd Creek, fourteen Chains, xxxxxx on with Burrel Brewer, thence West Fifty Chains to a Poplar, thence North twenty (?) five Chains to a Chesnut Tree, on the Bank of said River, thence down (?) Meanders of the same to the Mouth of said Creek, thence up the Meanders of sd Creek to the Beginning, as by the Stat here unto annexed at the (?) pear; together with woods, waters, mines, minerals, Hired itaments (?) appurtenances to the said Land belonging or in any wise appertaining (?) hold to the said William Scritchfield his Heirs and Asingees for over (?) xxxxxx and paying to us such Sums of Money yearly or thermse as (?) xx General Assembly from time to time may direct.
Provided (?) always that the said William Scritchfield shall cause this grant to registered in the Registers Office of our said County of Surry within (?) xxx Months from the Date hereof otherwise the same shall be void (?) x of no Effect.
In Testimony whereof we have caused our great Seal to (?) hereunto affixed. Witness Alexander Martin Esqr our Governor, Cap (?) Generall Commander in Chief at Fairfield the Twenty fourth Day (?) October in the seventh Year of our Independence and in the year of our (?) Lord One thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty two.
