Most of these directions are from Mount Airy, North Carolina, except for the two in the Elkin area.

ABRAM WHITAKER CEMETERY
Directions: 1 mile west from end of Bullington Road (SR 2118); overlooks Ararat River. Some markers are river stone.

ARARAT COMMUNITY CEMETERY
Directions: Travel north on Riverside Drive (Hwy 104) approximately two miles, turn left on Mount View Drive just beyond the new LH Jones Elementary School, cemetery is located on the left on Mount View Drive.

ATKINSON CEMETERY
Directions: At intersection of Eldora Road and Highway 268 (5 miles west of Pilot Mtn), go north on Eldora Rd. for about 3 miles; as you pass Bryant Road on the right, cemetery is on the left in edge of some trees across a short field. It is surrounded by white painted concrete blocks and is not visible in the summer due to trees.

FREEDOM PRIMITIVE BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY
Directions: Travel east on E. Pine Street (Hwy 103) for approximately four and a half miles turn left on old 103 then the first left on Gaylon Street, travel a short distance take the first left at the gravel drive to the church and adjoining cemetery.

LITTLE RICHMOND PRIMITIVE BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY (near Elkin)
Directions: Travel 268 West for approximately six miles.  Turn left at West Mount Hermon Church Road, then go a few yards.  Church is on the left in the Little Richmond Community.

MOUNT CALVARY CME CHURCH CEMETERY (outside Mount Airy city limits)
Directions: Travel east on E. Pine Street (Hwy 103) just beyond NC Granite Corp. turn R on Lovers Lane Road after approx. 0.25 mile turn R on Boulder Road cemetery is located a few yards on this road behind Mount Calvary CME Church. It is known to many in the area as the Combstown Cemetery (Combstown Community).

OAK GROVE CEMETERY (Elkin)
Directions: From 268 West, make a right onto CC Camp Road, travel approximately four miles, turn left on Elkin Wildlife Road go a few yards then take the first right cemetery is located a few yards on the left. (near I-77).

PAYNETOWN COMMUNITY CEMETERY
Directions: Travel east on E. Pine Street (Hwy 103).  Continue just beyond Flat Rock Elementary School.  Turn left on Marshall Farm Road (Paynetown Area).  Continue approximately one mile.  Cemetery is on the left at Payne's Chapel Baptist Church.

STATE LINE BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY (located in the Ward's Gap/State Line Community)
Directions: Travel north on North Main Street out of the Mount Airy city limits, becomes Ward's Gap Road.   Continue approximately five miles.  Church and cemetery are on the right, just inside the North Carolina state line adjacent to Carroll County, Virginia.

STRICKLAND FAMILY CEMETERY
Directions: Travel east on E. Pine Street (Hwy 103) for approximately seven miles.  Turn right on Slate Mtn. Road.  Continue for a short distance, then turn right on Atthey Simmons Road.  Cemetery is approximately 1 & 1/2 miles on the left.

STEWARTS CREEK (Old Hollow) PRIMITIVE BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY
Directions: Travel West Pine Street from Mount Airy.  Turn left onto Beasley Street, then take an immediate right onto Toast Road.  Travel a very short distance, then left on Pale Blush Lane, going down to church - cemetery located down the hill.  Please note: there are two churches here; this is the Black congregation.
