William A. Reynolds Dies Suddenly (November 11, 1913)
The community was shocked Tuesday morning by the
announcement that William A. Reynolds was dead,
having passed away sometime during the night, unknown
to his family. His home was about 7 miles northwest
of town (Liberty, MO). Mr. Reynolds had not been in
good health for several years but of late had
appeared greatly improved. He retired at his usual
hour seemingly in usual health, but was found dead by
the family Tuesday morning, heart disease being the
probably cause.
Mr. Reynolds was born in Buchanan County in 1842. He
was married to Miss Mary Frances Reynolds, April 3,
1866, who died January 11, 1911. Of this union three
children survive him; Mrs. Joe Craig of Lincoln, NE.,
Mrs. William Darnell and Miss Emily Reynolds of Clay
county, MO. Also 5 brothers and a sister; James,
Levi, Edward, Lee and Yerby Renolds and Mrs. Belle
Campbell and 11 grandchildren.
Mr. Reynolds united with the Baptist Church at
Providence years ago and had always remained true to
his conversion. He was a noble man, a good neighbor
and friend, and will be greatly missed by those who
knew him. He served in the Confederate Army during
the Civil War and was a member of the Masonic
Fraternity.
The esteem in which he was held was attested by the
large number of friends and neighbors who assembled
at Providence church Tuesday afternoon when funeral
services were conducted by the pastor, Professor Ward
Edwards, and burial held with Masonic honors in the
church yard. The sympathy of all is extended the
stricken family in their great sorrow.
