Died - Price - of penumonia, at the residence of P.
G. Wilhite, at 9:00pm, January 4. Maj. Winfrey E.
Price, of Clay county, MO., in his 84th year.
Major Price settled in Clay county, MO., in 1825. He
and his brothers were in the war of 1812, and also in
the Mexican war. Being born and raised in the south,
he cast his lot with her, leaving home in 1861, and
did not return until June 1865. Had been an active
member of the Old School Baptist Church for half a
century; a devoted Christian, and died as he had
live, strong in the faith. He was one of the charter
members of the first church organized in Clay county,
MO., and helped to build the first church in the
county. He was a life-long Democrat of the Jacksonian
school.
Major Price was buried on the old home place where he
first located when he came to the state.

Windfrey E. Price, father-in-law of Mr. P. G.
Wilhite, died at the residence of the latter on the
4th of this month. The deceased was in his 84th year,
and was a participant in three wars. He was one of
the veterans of 1812, the Mexican War, and the late
rebellion, in the latter having served on the side of
the confederacy. He was a good man, true to his
friends and principles, and died universally
regretted by all who knew him.
