I found a yellowed newspaper article titled "That Braymer Killing". "A bill was not found against C. E. O'Neal, city marshall of Braymer, for shooting Robert Hays, so says the Bee of Brayer. Is it possible that Caldwell county will so fail to try a man, an officer, who shoots down an unarmed Ray county boy?" We think Robert Hays may have been my gggrandfather as there is also a note saying my ggrandmother was raised by her mother after her father was killed by a county sheriff. If anyone has any further info on this, would appreciate it. Thanks.

I found a picture in my Mom's collection, of her freshman year class picture,1925-26, at Kingston High School. It must be a picture of the entire school, because there are close to 50 in the picture. On the back are the names of the students, plus the superintendant and principal for that year.

Would anyone have any use for these names? I'm going to try to post the picture on my web page as soon as my daughter comes to visit. (I'm not quite computer literate yet).

My Mom's family lived in Caldwell Co. for a number of years and left there about the end of 1926. Her name was Pauling Gentry and her Dad was James A. Gentry.

His children are as follows, Martha, Samuel Asa, James, Ed, Parthena, Thomas, Annie, Joseph , Nancy and John B William was born abt 1824. His children were born from 1847 to 1867.Anything would be more than appreciated.

I believe that my great-grandfather Addison S. Whitfore lived in Caldwell County, Missouri prior to the Civil War. He later moved to Memphis, Tennessee and there are records that he was in Memphis inthe 1870s. My grandfather, Edwin Everett Whitfore, was about 2 years old when they moved to Memphis. Since my grandfather was born in 1858, that indicates that they left Memphis around 1860. Addison's wife was Louise Ashley Whitford.

Harlow Family

I'm looking for information on the Harlow family in Caldwell County, specifically Richard and Elizabeth (Sult) Harlow. They had a farm in Section 22 about 2 miles south of Breckenridge (the 1876 atlas put him as "R. Horton" instead of R. Harlow). I have found them in the 1870 and 1880 censuses. Leander Harlow (L. Horton in the atlas) was nearby. They sold their land there in 1881. So I'm trying to find out (1) when they first arrived. The 1886 History of Caldwell & Livingston Counties says only that Richard Harlow was a founding member of the M. E. Church South at Breckenridge in about 1855-56, but I can't confirm they were in Caldwell County as early as that. Their first land purchase was in 1871. (2) What was the relationship between Leander and Richard Harlow? (I suspect Leander was Richard's son from an earlier marriage). (3) Did Richard and Elizabeth stay in Caldwell County or move on somewhere else? I couldn't locate them in the available cemetery records. I would appreciate it if you could look for them in the Master Index for Obituaries. Their children were Angeline (1854), Leona? (1858), Malinda (1863), George (1865), Samuel L. (1868), Montgomery (1870), Alfera? (1872), John G. (1874), and Laura (1878). Any information on the Harlow family would be appreciated. Thanks for your help. Your Caldwell County page is one of the better and most useful ones I've seen.
